Considering Calgary's economic environment, the prices vs. the crappy state of the Saddledome, and the fact that Flames have only won one playoff round in 10+ years, and I'm actually pretty impressed the Flames are still doing such solid numbers. Can't say we Calgarians don't support the team.

Time to start an NHL Fan Association. Everyone strike!! Until we get a ticket price cap... no more ticket purchases!

Good hope the owners lose more money. Their greed is why hockey crowds are so dead these days.

When you look at the seating structure it makes sense.

But don't they charge more than the lower bowl for the bottom of the second tier because they and the fans know it's the best view in the arena?

Yep, just checked the Dallas game. $190 a ticket in section 105, 107 etc, (any row), $292 avison young club (lower bowl) and then $305 for the first few rows in the second tier middle, then down to $216, then $190 after that for a few rows.
They can't say with a straight face they're losing revenue because of a smaller lower bowl when they're charging a premium and in some cases more to sit in the lower second tier. I mean literally their most expensive tickets are in the second tier, FFS.

Best view, easiest access, there is no doubt where the best seats are.

Yeah, it's something Burke said a lot while he was here, but the argument doesn't really hold up when they charge lower bowl prices for the first 10 rows of the 200s anyway.
Also, they really overcharge for some of the lower-quality seats in the 200s. I gave up my season seats last year but when I had them, I really liked them, but it annoyed me to know that my seats in row 20 on the goal line cost exactly the same as seats in row 11 at centre ice.
In virtually every other arena in the league, those would be two different price levels, and in many arenas there would be at least one other price level in between.

I also don't care if beer is more expensive at other arenas. I go to THIS arena. The ''it's more expensive at other places'' is the worst defense ever. I guess we should continue to be sheep and fork out our money just because it costs more in other cities?
And of course I'm going to direct it at the Flames. It's their venue.
You're right though, winning does cure everything. The Flames' have a real good opportunity to put on one of the most special seasons in recent memory this season. I'd love nothing more then to see the 'Dome rocking every night. But as it stands now, many of us just prefer to enjoy it from the comfort of our own homes.

Is your complaint for not attending flames games due to lack of work, unemployment, less spending money, high beer prices, pro sports being expensive in general, overpriced beer, boring hockey, a losing team or preferring to watch flames games from your couch?
Did I catch your complaint in there somewhere?
Expensive food, not good food selection, a quiet stadium, a crappy starting goalie, a boring coach/system.... the list of reasons why flames fans post on this board as to why going to games sucks is long and mostly stupid IMO.
Is it cheap? Nope! But everyone always talks like they NEED to buy $300 lower bowl seats and eat a overpriced $18 dinner and drink six $10.50 beers is totally ridiculous. Buy a $50 seat off this websites market place, eat at home before the game and buy a couple $5 beers before puck drop.
Most of the complaints on here are from people trying to justify why they’re boring and prefer to watch from their couch. Ok cool, you prefer to stay home, that’s your choice.
Everything is expensive, news flash!
And a winning team rolling into the playoffs will sellout every damn game at the dome.

New thread ideas:
- Beer at bars is more expensive then the liquor store.
- Food at restaurants is more expensive the the grocery store.
- Movie theatres are more expensive then renting from home.

That’s super weird. I have been to many, many games and have never been raped.
You probably should report it if you were.
