True.

He’ll probably play the next 7 years then bolt like Tavares leaving them... nothing but the smell of their own farts.

He seems loyal to a fault. Thankfully he didn’t hand them a bargain contract to utilize his lower cap hit to build a team. Bobby Orr is his agent group, they see the clown show there, & what happened on Long Island.

The question is...?

How long can he listen to the boys on the bus stories until he’s had enough of their blowhardiness?

But I’m sure Gretz can impart his zen like alcohol fueled wizardry until the end of time.

God knows he never grew up cheering for that crony tire fire.

He also has a NMC the last 1/2 of his deal.

Further limiting their options & the return.

It was actually really interesting that when they drafted McDavid they got a new GM, new Coach and Bob Nicholson (no idea what he does) so they completely revamped the entire management structure.

And yet are getting the same results.

Because the people they replaced are still with the organization and still making decisions behind the scenes or at the least are in Katz' ear.

Lots of organizations are run like that, look at the Flyers and Sens for example. Edmonton will never take the next step with Mac-T and Lowe sitting upstairs. So Oiler fans will pretty much have to wait till Katz sells the team.

It will be hilarious the day that the “McDavid wants out” rumours begin to leak out. That Colorado proposal is actually pretty good for a monster cap-era trade when you look at the potential of the Ottawa pick along with an emerging star player. The oilers would still lose the trade cause they would ruin any players or picks they get anyways.

The oilers won’t do it this year though. That won’t happen until McDavid’s camp leaks out his desire to leave... I believe that will finally happen around this time next year... when the oilers are out of it once again and the jerseys start getting tossed on the ice.

The fallout from the fans against the ownership and management will be devastating... but then they’ll get another high pick and the fans will forget all about it and assume that it will all work out for them this time.

I imagine he'll play it out until his NMC kicks in. Hes not going to pull the 'chute after Year 1.

Welcome to playing the Kings - they get away with that against every team. They are master of not getting called for interference and obsruction

What a moron, if I went through a video of an Oilers game with a fine tooth comb, I could find a lot of calls that didn't get called on the Oilers, mainly because they're slow and unskilled and not very good.

I could also pull out video of Connor diving and embellishing and whining the the refs. I wonder if the Oilers Truth department made this video for Staples.

I rag on Staples a fair bit because its fun and he brings it on himself, but he seems to be coming unhinged.

Most Cold War Propaganda departments would be cringing at this kind of thing.

Joseph Goebbels would be telling Staples to dial it back a bit.

Ok, I mean if Chiarelli or whomever engaged McJesus on waiving -- he gets the headsup a trade is coming, but does he veto any transaction?
I mean he's already in Edmonton. Ottawa? Winnipeg? (great team, but it's Winnipeg)

I imagine he'd be ecstatic.

To me, him having NMC just means he doesn't like surprises.

Look at the comments even the fans realize Staples is grasping at straws. I'm surprised a guy that works for media is able to post this on his twitter as it's such low hanging fruit.

So the Oilers fans “have given up” because of the refereeing?

I don’t suppose it would have anything to do with missing the playoffs 12 of the last 13 seasons?

Garbage team in a great league.

I could only watch 30 seconds of that insane video.

Basically.... you’re not allowed to defend McDavid ever.

If you touch him... that’s a penalty.
If you make body contact... that’s a penalty.
If he falls... that’s another penalty.
If you have better body position... that’s a penalty.
