HNIC: Nylander officially on the trade block

I put Lindros a tier above McDavid but Nylander isn't even close to either of them though.

The returns you mention are no where closed to the Lindros return.

I don't think a one year will happen. Doesn't make any logical sense. For trades, I continue to see Phoenix, Carolina, Las Vegas, nyr, Anaheim and Calgary as being most logical trading partners.

I really don’t see the Flames as being a logical trade partner. IMO any trade for Nylander probably starts with Valimaki and would likely include a 1st as well. That’s not a trade I could see the Flames making. The team isn’t really in desperate need of scoring and they’re going to need those cheap defenseman next year when Tkachuk is up for a new deal.

Nylander was taken in *2014* draft -- doesn't fit Tre's M.O.

It doesn't make sense for the Leafs but I'm sure Nylander would love it.
Why would the Leafs give him 6 million for one year?

Leafs have tons of room this year and a 6M would mean thats the minimum they have to sign for again in the offseason, hardly an issue.
As far as Nylander loving it.... whats to say he signs a 1x 6 ( at this point he gets like 4.3 of it) and this same thing doesnt happen again next summer where they are in a stalemate?
Its a good deal for Leafs but risky for Nylander.
And boohoo it would make him a bit harder to trade.

Depends if Management sees Leafs making a run for the cup this year. Adding Nylander is pretty huge even if it's just for the remainder of the season.

Come on Tre, get it done. I'd love to add Nylander and I'd move Hamonic to do it. The Flames are ridiculously deep on defense.
I want the flames to be favorites, not contenders. Gaudreau, TKachuk, Lindholm, Nylander as your top 6 wingers is drool worthy. As in, best in the league, easily.

I dont think it's a coincidence that the flames have dramatically improved since getting hamonic back from injury. I'd love to add nylander but I think sacrificing hamonic to do so is a fools errand. Jankowski+Rasmus andersson maybe?
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Nylander-bennett
Frolik-backlund-neal
Dube-ryan-hathaway
Is a deep lineup.

I don't think Nylander would love it at all. Some team would sign him long term, which he is entitled to based on his skill level and output. Why would you take 6 million gaurenteed when you undoubtedly could get 36 million gaurenteed (or more) somewhere else? Why would you risk an injury that could cost you more then 30 million career earnings to cut the leafs some slack? And if the December deadline passes, and he can't play this year in the NHL, he will be the youngest player to hit the UFA market that I can remember, next year. Somebody will pay a little extra for a young, talented free asset next year. There is no benifit for him to sign short term.

You seriously believe a fourth line centre and a decent prospect would get it done?
Toronto is not over a barrel. In fact, the Leafs hold the hammer. They can let Nylander rot all year if they like. They still control his NHL destiny.

Just 4 days to get something done or Nylander is done for the year...

Hamonic+Bennett would do it. It's a lot but we would be extremely deadly. If Neal could get out of his funk, Our third line would be killer too. Would be almost impossible to stop those sort of offensive waves.
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Nylander
Dube-Jankowski-Neal
Frolik-Ryan-Hathaway

I'm pretty sure he signs with Toronto or sits. Also trading hamonic prob isnt great. I think we have depth on the left side. If calgary deals a d for top 6 talent it'll prob have to be a left side D.

Imagine how soft this team would be without Bennett and Hamonic. I think the value is fine but i don't like it from a team composition standpoint.

This season Hamonic has brought something that is in somewhat short supply with the Flames d core, and that's being a steady rock in his own zone (not demonstrated on yesterday's goal however, ha). Outside of Gio, none of the other dmen are as strong in that aspect.
I'd rather have that type of guy, than another forward on a team that is already doing pretty well on that front. Especially in the playoffs. It's always why I'd hesitate to trade Stone (even if he was healthy).

The Nylander ship has sailed the minute we traded for Lindholm and signing Neal, Czarnik and Ryan. If we wanted Nylander that badly, it would’ve already occurred with Hamilton going to Toronto.
