Connor McDavid has scored 31 points.
Edmonton Oilers have scored 61 goals.
51 percent of their offense from ONE player. Depth.

No doubt. I believe the rebuttal was “we never said we have depth.” Yeah no ####. And then it turned into a heated argument between 2 morons, was actually pretty funny.

HF Oilers is pretty humorous at times. It's interesting how many of them know very little about the Flames seeing they get all the Flames games televised much like we do Oilers. Almost like Leafs fans where they know a lot about their team but don't follow the rest of the league much.

Except Oiler fans don't even know anything about their own team. The only thing they know about is the existence of McDoofus, and him being enough to bestow Stanley Cups on Shelbyville.

It’s pretty common here in Edmonton. I often preface any hockey questions or conversation with “do you watch hockey or just the oilers?” Most respondents just look confused when I ask... there are hockey fans, and then there are oilers fans. All fan bases have that demographic, it just seems the oilers have more/most.

Man, did they dump on the guy who noted that (a) most teams have a majority of goals from the top 6 and (b) the Oilers were even more topheavy.

Had some scary moments. Flashbacks of being up 5-0 vs Chicago, only to lose 6-5. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thinking of that as I watched the Jets turn it on. But Big Dick Rittich saved the day. Some huge stops. Bennett is awesome.
I am pleased with the result.

Eh, maybe it's from dealing with more Calgary-based Oilers fans but I still think Vancouver has the most insulated fanbase.

For a board that seems to mock the fact that we have a thread about Edmonton, they sure seem to spend a lot more time watching our games.
Must be comforting for them to see an Alberta team that can actually play hockey once in a while.

They always seem befuddled that we have a dedicated Oilers Suck thread, like they haven't been around to witness the last 12 years of Edmonton being the worst run franchise in pro sports. The Flames haven't been very good either, but they weren't bottom of the barrel either. The Flames have just been a forgettable bubble or non-playoff team. The Oilers however have been legendarily bad, like worst team in NHL history over a 10 year span bad. Of course their closest rival is going to have a thread to discuss that

WPG is a formidable opponent and they came out flying. CGY battled back and it's great to see the scoring spread out the lineup. Keep rolling and hopefully some guys can build their confidence and games.
Win battles, skate hard, make good plays to get out of the zone and attacking in rhythm and this CGY team has incredible potential.
If I look at the lines and just the 'tools' each player has (perhaps not in counting stats but you just look at the ability) there is incredible depth on this team. It's a matter of confidence, working their tails off and letting that ability flow. Fun to watch and it's all from effort.

I dont even understand what this means or why an Oiler fan would say it. I love Oilers fan and their arguments. Even their media people are hilarious. Just the other night on twitter a "freelance" Oiler writer tweeted me about how the Oilers have been a better team than the Flames since McDavid came into the league.
I went and checked the numbers which were
Oilers - 123-117-24 270 pts
Flames - 127- 116 - 22 276 pts
I told him his claim wasn't true. The dude told me we measure success based on how far teams have gone in the Playoffs. Then blocked me.

|
He's one of the most one dimensional players in the league. Granted, that one dimension is something I'd take on our team in a heart beat, but he really doesn't do anything to make his line mates better or carry the play. He can sure shoot it, but he can't do much else.

My favourite part of any ATL report is the extreme rage and vitriol towards Tkachuk. It seems like it makes up 25-50% of all the material collected on any given game.

That's right folks. You can commit an infraction (that would also be called if it were against a player) because goaltenders are fair game outside of the crease.
They really know their hockey.

He’s out of his crease and it was accidental!!
How did that goal not ****ing count ???
|
Oh my bad, it was also accidental. Good thing refs can read minds to determine that.
Dube will be glad to know he shouldn't have been called for that high stick. Accidental, and all.

I think Toronto is the worst by a long shot. Remember the comment from one guy on the Leafs forum when the Flames played the Leafs complaining that on a national game they were discussing Johnny's short stick and that angered him because when he gets home from work he doesn't want to hear about other teams and only wants to hear about the Leafs. I wouldn't be shocked if less than 10% of the Leaf's fanbase follows the NHL outside of Toronto.
