8 points in 22 games is a 29 point pace. But facts just don't matter anymore.

At this point, someone could say that Bennett jersey number is 93 and we'd have half of CP say that's too low and argue he wears 125.

But wait how many points projected if he changes his number for a few games?

Man have you even watched a game? Or did he hit on your sister or something? Just enjoy the way he’s playing, it’s fun to watch

So because I don't agree that 8 points in 22 games is a 36 point pace, I have an issue with Bennett?

Jesus guys. I'm out from this thread, it's gone insane ha. He's playing well, I'm glad. We don't need to change math though ha.

Yeah that's my brain fart sorry ...

The rest seems a bit touchy. Are you sure you want him to succeed?

I mean I don't have his jersey, I don't cheer for individual players, but having Sam Bennett return to the land of the living is a pretty good thing for the team isn't it?

For two years I've seen Sam Bennett's development as one of the single biggest things in pushing this team forward. I'm personally happy it's happening to any degree.

8/22 = 0.36363636363636363636363636363636

0.36363636363636363636363636363636 * 82 = 29.818181818181818181818181818182

That rounds up to 30

You're right, facts don't matter any more. 29 my ass.

It kinda depends on your projections. If one projects a trend in points, he gets more and more per game.

Bennett’s points aren’t necessarily where he’d like it to be, but the needle is starting to move since he’s been placed on the 2nd line with Tkachuk and Backlund which has really balanced out the lines quite nicely. More importantly I like the way he’s playing this season.

There’s a purpose to his game and I think he’s finally lifted the whole 4th overall pressure off his shoulders. He’s figured out that his role needs to be a gritty, energy guy who can hit hard, stick up for teammates and chip in once in a while.

My personal favorite aspect about his game this season is the discipline. I don’t think he’s taken one boneheaded offensive zone penalty all season and that to me, is the most impressive thing because I wasn’t sure he could reign that in as he’s so competitive. Very strong stretch and I think he’s setting himself quite nicely for a decent long term contract.

True.

Facts don’t matter until he knocks Darnel Nurse right on his ass.

What he is providing is right in the meat of what analytics can’t measure.

How hard a team is to play against.

A hit isn’t equivalent between players.

His play is what makes defenseman rush their decision making and take notice when he’s on the ice.

What is different about it is HOW he’s doing it. He’s not acting like a wrecking ball. He’s more like a sniper on s roof top, picking his spots.

The whole time Nurse was mugging him along the boards & in the corner you can tell his motive is to remain emotionless, disciplined and NOT take an offensive zone penalty.

It’s impressive.

Agree 100%, I just want them to not break up Sammy and Chucky.

Bennett and Tkachuk could become a formidable duo with Backlund at center. I’ve loved the way Bennett and Tkachuk have been playing off each other and that line just makes a lot of sense. Tkachuk as the elite puck driver, Backlund as the shutdown center, Bennett as the gritty 2 way player that can impact the game in multiple areas. LOVE IT

If you can pull off a stretch like that for a couple months in the season 30 points is a low bar. Do it for half the season and 40 to 50 odd points isn't that unrealistic.
That's all true, but here's the thing:

Bennett had 26 points last year. You flushed 11 of them down the memory hole. I grant you that he was streaky and inconsistent, but he damn sure scored more than two points in the other 67 games.

Last nights goal was his best of the year IMO. Getting one off his butt the game before may have started a streak.

I was so happy to see that go in. That was a great goal scorers shot. Hopefully that puts the confidence back in him.

My bad totally missed that, had 15 on my mind. Bottom line i am a huge supporter of Bennett. I think there are a lot of good things he does. He has gotten a rough ride early through his career up to this point.

He’s playing awesome and other than Rittich looking like a legit no 1, this is one of the biggest hurdles this team needs to get over the hump imo.

That said, we know he has scored in bunches in the past and then completely disappeared so I’m going to temper my optimism. He’s been playing well all season but I need to see him with the scoring touch over probably 30ish games before I believe he’s found it for good. Bennett turning into a perennial scorer makes this one of the best and deepest teams in the league.

I also agree with the sentiment that it looks like Gulutzan held him back far more than anyone realized. Thank god that period is over
