As much as I hate dealing 1st round picks, Matt Murray is young enough to forfeit the 2019 pick. But that's about it. It's a locked in cost controlled player filling a position this team needs to address.

24 years old, 2 time Stanley Cup champion having a down year and very likely to bounce back. 100% in agreement

Yep, it would be a good time to buy low on Murray, even if he does have injury problems.
At the moment, he has Smith-like stats. But Murray also has huge potential upside.
In order for Murray to be available, I think he'd need a longer track record of mediocrity. DeSmith would also have to continue to play very well.

Matt Murray would be perfect pickup. But I don't see why they would trade him.

There won't be any buying low going on with Matt Murray.

He could take 3 years off and it would still make sense for Pittsburgh to retain his rights. One of the best, and youngest, in the league.

Is Matt Murray really all that? I took him in my pool, can't remember if it was last year or the year before, but I remember being really disappointed in his performance.

I don't think he's all that, personally. And I am worried about his injury history. But I still think it would cost quite a ransom to pry him out of Pittsburgh.

Well after reading about Gillies and Parsons being injured and Schneider and McDonald and stepping it up down in Stockton and looking good it makes me happy we have the depth in net that we do.
Adding another goalie might not make sense right now but Tre has to be ready to flip the switch and not with experimental moves either.
I don’t think Gillies is ever going to be an NHLer ....that surgery he had what 3 years ago just seems to have done him in.

DeSmith is a UFA at the end of the season. Jarry has a one-way deal next year.
A Smith for DeSmith deal probably doesn't interest the Pens because of Smith's cap hit (and his play so far), but I wonder if something could be worked out to get one of those two goalies in Calgary?

Is DeSmith more into cigarettes, wine and has a thin moustache? Well as long as he's better than Smith.

More importantly, when did the Worldwide-Smith-Surname-Consortium decide that they had to start "fancying-up" their name?!?

I think Pittsburgh may want a 3rd RHD as they currently have 2 at the NHL level. I’m wondering if they’d be interested in acquiring Stone in return for picks.

I wouldn't trade D depth unless you are sure Kylington can advance to the NHL. Injuries happen.

Pitt needs scoring bad and Neal lit it up there
Maybe we could wing something like
Neal+Jankowski
for
Brassard+Sprong
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Brassard-Bennett
Frolik-Backlund-Sprong
Czarnik-Ryan-Hathaway

Neal isn't working. It doesn't look like he has any real chemistry with anyone and he doesn't fit in the way the team plays.
Would rather improve the team then have him sit on the 3rd line all year doing nothing.

20 games into a season (and a 5 year contract) with a new team and you want to trade him? That’ll pay spades going forward.

Re: Duchene and Sens
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
It’s premature to say this deal will get done, there’s still work to be done, but it sure sounds like talks are progressing. There seems to be earnest desire on both sides to reach agreement. My best guess would be term of 8 years and AAV somewhere north of $8M but south of $9M.

Pitt doesn’t need scoring at all. They’ve played 19 games and have 64 goals. Their goals/game is top ten in the NHL, closer actually to top five. Their problem is shoddy defense and suspect goaltending. Your trade proposal makes absolutely no sense.
