Listening to Rittich after hours - his demeanor and way he talks reminds me of Kipper. A funny, quirky personaility.

Rittich's save on the Khaira short handed breakaway was the turning point for the game. If that ends up in the net she's over. Instead the Flames get that one chance on the PP and convert it. The third was something else. Even after they got the lead they continued to keep the puck in the Oilers zone. Hopefully we're all talking about this game 10 years from now about how Rittich claimed the net this night and never let it go.

He just seems to appreciate so much that he is actually playing in the NHL and loves playing the "lovely" game as he put it.
He is much more at ease with the press than Kipper though. Kipper hated the spotlight.

Really was a tale of two teams for the flames. Whether it was PTSD from hearing and seeing GG, the team just struggled with simple hockey plays. Once they got it sorted the Oilers looked completely out worked and out played. Once they got into that 3rd period and cycled the three lines, the oilers had no answer and just got worked. Very satisfying 2 points.

Not sure what Oiler fans issue is with Tkachuk not fighting their goon. After the McDavid scrum it was obvious that Tkachuk wanted to fight Draisaitl and it was LD that didnt drop the gloves.
If Tkachuk has to answer the bell, so should LD

I hope this is the point where the Flames sit Smith and let him recover from whatever injury he apparently has, there's no point in letting him continue to play hurt, it is only diminishing his chances of another NHL contract at this point. If he can rest, the hopefully he'll be healthy down the stretch and can win us some games then.

It was an obvious plant, no way that happens without the guy being in on it.

I like McCurdy. He watched the same game we did.
Lucic, 4.
Quote:
A big part of the issue was Lucic’s ongoing difficulties making or taking a pass, as he turned the puck over in the neutral zone a few times with a variety of grenades and fumbles.

Kassian, 2.
Quote:
After missing most of the middle frame he was promoted for reasons not immediately apparent to this observer to the RNH-Spooner line. The trio generated nothing and struggled defensively, not least on the 2-2 goal where Kassian and Spooner got crossed up with neither covering anybody.

If there's anything left in the tank, plug the leak.
If his glove hand/arm (or wherever the injury actually is) requires surgery, get it done now.

Pretty sure I saw an Oiler hit Johnny from behind that should have been at minimum a 4 minute boarding penalty. I would rather see a get roughed up a bit in a scrum than take a dangerous hit like Johnny took. Guys like Stauffer need to take a step back and accept the better team won the game instead of bringing up this false narrative the Flames somehow were goons.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
I mentioned this last night, but I was surprised that Prout didn't play. Not that I'm wanting him to see more game time, but I thought the only reason he was even with the team was for games against the Oilers. If he isn't going to suit up for those 4 games, why is even here at all?
That being said, given how chippy this one got I wouldn't be shocked to see him next time out.
