If i understand correctly, it doesnt reflect when votes were made...its polling stations reporting once its over as there are no counts going on.

Side story: car parked in middle of road with hazards on and nobody In it... on way to YES party. Then police and ambulance... then we see this man staggering trying to walk a straight line. Very drunk. Just saw officer toss car keys to other officer. Not good. At all.

Hopefully those results hold true and the "sticks in the mud" get to save a few thousand dollars. I'm going to invest mine in state of the art "get of my lawn" technology.

I forgot to add that my Federal and Prov tax dollars are involved.

As bad as it may seem I want a resounding no result just so Council is humiliated.

Well, what should we do with all these tax savings and free burden from cost overruns? That's not a bad idea.

I want them to pay back every dime they wasted on this fiasco if it gets voted down. But I'm sure it's more likely they will double down and find a more efficient way to piss away tax dollars.

I'd personally be quite shocked if either side got more than 60% of the vote, just based on the conversations I've had/seen online it seems the population was pretty split on it.
But the news coverage seems much more weighted to the "no" side of things.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with having an interest in this from afar. That said, using the argument of paying federal and provincial taxes goes both ways.

The idea that the dollars are being saved is false.

Keep it very close to you - and start thinking of that magic "use it towards something else idea".

I haven’t found any Partisan consistency in the people I have talked to on both sides of the debate. I think this is a good thing as everything doesn’t need to be politicized.

Norm!

The bottom line is that if this result holds, its not an indictment about the Olympic coming to Calgary concept itself. Or people being sticks in the mud or no fun.
Its a illustration of the lousy job done by Bidco and the City in this case. They came out with a Insurance salesman pitch combined with a Nigerian Prince scheme. This result is about a complete lack of faith and trust in the work that was done.
While this is a step back, it allows for the city to do the job right even if that means that its not the 2026 Olympics.
