- Smith solid
- Flames have a brutal second
- Can't find that tying goal in the third.

I thought Jones played pretty well. Away from the play, he gave guys a rough ride in front of the net. Along the boards, he manhandled Thornton. He does add an element that is missing sometimes.
Why was Neal sat? I was at the game and could see him sitting at the far end of the bench basically separate from everyone. He wasn't just missing shifts. He was in the doghouse it looked like.

We had enough scoring chances to win that game. Gave up a few in the 2nd too. Goalies were the story. But it was a fine road game.

Holy geez. I don't even know if that is autocorrect or dementia. Thanks for catch. I meant Stone.

Let's see how Neal reacts to sitting. Choices: Frolik-like (awesome), Hathaway-like (pretty darn good), Czarnik-like - OK or Jankowski-like (meh).

That was a frustrating game to watch, and it looked to me like the Flames were tired. It sucks going 1-2 in California, but it’s tough to complain about last night’s game with all things considered.

He may as well be sitting if he's playing with Backlund.

Put him with Johnny and watch him perform.

I thought he'd light it with Backlund and Tkachuk. I thought their game speed would be good for him.

Those guys haven't played well for a couple games. I'd like to see a little more time to gel.

If I had to guess, it would be that Backlund's injury is not improving. I think it is really having an deleterious effect on his offensive game - even if just from a confidence level. I could be wrong but I know he's a much better offensive player than we've seen the past few games.

I am a little concerned about Backlund right now. He is clearly a lot more important to the offensive success of the second line than a lot of people are willing to credit him for, and to me he has looked pretty bad compared to how he looked during the win streak. Hopefully the three day break helps him recuperate enough to regain what he had going a couple weeks ago.

I scoured the game takes and could not find anything about Cassie Campbell.

Yep. A lot of good things about this season so far. Peters, Lindholm, the (extremely) young defensemen are at the top of my list.

Backlund’s play of late, and the absolute non impact of James Neal head my list of concerns. Jankowski looking like an AHLer is there too.

I actually feel better about the goaltending right now.

I'd add that Jankowski had a decent road trip ... first real signs of life this season.

He did have some chances. He needs to contribute some offense for this team to be successful as we’d like.

"Colorado beating Edmonton pushed the Oilers out of the final wild card spot and into non playoff oblivion, never to be seen again. "
My favorite part of the read.

I still don't know why Neal was stapled to the bench. If you are odd man out because of shortened bench, you usually sit in the middle. He was a cast-off on the end of the bench manning the door.
Something must have happened in 2nd period.

3 GF in 3 games isn't going to win many games, but nor is it likely to last.

He did contribute. He had a huge goal and made a big play to notch an assist in two road games. Yes, that is what needs to now happen with some consistency, but this was a big start.
