ISLES DOUBLE UP BLUES

Islanders captain Chris Phillips celebrates after Alexander Perezhogin's
goal in the third period.

UNIONDALE, NY - Ron Hainsey scored twice and was named the game's first star Monday in a 6-3 victory over the visiting St. Louis Blues.

With leading scorer Marek Svatos forced to the sidelines with a groin injury sustained last game, it was assumed the Islanders would be hard-pressed for goals Monday night especially against young phenoms Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby.

The Islanders surprised however, getting goals from five different players en route to a 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

Rugged veteran Martin Lapointe opened the scoring early on in the first period shoveling a loose puck under the pad of Blues netminder Dominic Hasek to give the Isles an early 1-0 lead before Ron Hainsey's screen shot from the point would give the home team a 2-0 lead.

The Blues made it a game however, drawing even with goals from Sidney Crosby in the first period and Alexander Daigle in the third.

With the game tied in the third period, Islander captain Chris Phillips muscled a pass to teammate Alexander Perezhogin who made no mistake on the breakaway snapping a shot through the legs of Hasek to give the Isles the lead once again.

From there, the Islanders would add three more goals from Ryan Getzlaf, Robert Nilsson and Ron Hainsey with his second of the game to seal the victory.

The last game for the Islanders in 2006 will be on Thursday in New Jersey against the Devils.

Well the Leafs finally put one in the win column, beating the Thrashers 5-3. This Leafs team is actually pretty good against the playoff teams in our conference, but for some reason we're a mess against the lower teams and the west.

Patrick Marleau returned from injury and recorded 3 points. The first line of Smyth-Marleau-Torres, reunited after being broken up do to injuries to Marleau and Datsyuk, had a great night. Turco was good enough and the Leafs PP finally put a few in the net.

The only bad thing is the 2nd line was a -2 at even strength and the 3rd line was a -1.

Let's see if the Leafs can keep it up as we enter the xmas break

HOWL!

Coyotes pot 5 in Victory. Alexei Ponikarovsky with 2 goals and an assist, Sundin continues a hot hand with a goal. Vesa Toskala did not get the start but he did leave the arena with Jean-Sebastien Giguere's wife.

PP was the big difference.
COYOTES 4 for 7
SABRES 1 for 3

For the 2nd game in a row it's a Yotes sweep of the 3 stars.
Game Stars
1 - Alexei Ponikarovsky (COY)
2 - Brett Clark (COY)
3 - Mats Sundin (COY)

The Coyotes fly home to host the Senators tomorrow, then right back to Buffalo to play the Sabres again on Wednesday (Toskala may bring Gigueres wife back then).

Kolzig leads Pens to OT win!

Olaf Kolzig would not let the Penguins losing streak continue. Kolzig stood on his head making 48 saves leading the Penguins to a 4-3 win over the LA Kings. JP Dumont had a huge game with 2 goals and an assist an Saku Koivu added 2 assists in the win. The Pens are at it again tommorow when they battle the Hawks.

well I think that makes us winless in 10. for the last several weeks we've had multiple veterans fatigued, despite getting as much pressbox time as they need.now its prospal and fedotenko, our only 2 good forwards. this isn't going to end anytime soon

Hawks Downgrade Hurricanes to a Big Wind!

Shaonne Morrisonn leads the Hawks to a win with a hattrick tonight.

Brad Richards egdes past Jagr for the scoring lead in the league.

Tuomo Ruutu beats the crap out of Kevin Dallman. Dallman was injured in the fight and may be in the hospital for up to 6 months because he is a wimp if he can't win a fight against T-Rex Ruutu and WIN!

Marian Hossa was unfortunately injured earlier in the game when Dallman slugged him in the kisser. Dany Heatley was standing nearby looking Hossa's nose swell and was overcome with hilarity. He was waving his stick around when he was tossed from the game for snickering and high sticking. Yes, a high snickering suspension. Be careful who you pick on. Some refs have no sense of humor whatsoever!

Flames win again. whats up with that.
Flames 4 Jets 2
with all the recent trades the flames have been making its hard to believe we continue to win.
Will we make a push and make that tremendous climb back into the playoff race. well that remains to be seen.
But we will continue to move players and see what happens.

Goalie Statistics

Pascal Leclaire (JET), 35 saves out of 39 shots, L, 2-5-0
Miikka Kiprusoff (FLA), 20 saves out of 22 shots, W, 15-11-1

Power Play Conversions
JETS 0 for 3
FLAMES 2 for 7

Game Stars 1 - Ben Clymer (JET)
2 - Bryan Muir (FLA)
3 - Brett McLean (JET)

Flames Burn Jets!

Jets were actually lucky it was only a 4-2 score. The Flames fired 39 shots at LeClaire, while the Jets only mustered 22 of their own.

Ben Clymer had a solid game with a multipoint night and Mike Ribeiro now has 3 points in 2 games with the Jets.
