I honestly don't want Jesse Puljujarvi. We have enough former 4th-overall picks giving us fits.

Also, there's no way the Oilers would do that, unless Chiarelli wait no I'm sold.

Theres lots of talk about the pens moving Sprong, hedge be worth the gamble imo, even jarry or desmith. The pens seem like a good trade partner, not good depth and a weak back end. They need a lot of help

Exactly. Which is why Anaheim turned down a much better offer from the Flames and sent Andersen to Toronto.

Mirtle said this on Friday on 960, which I believe was incorrect as Burke said the Flames offer made the Leafs up their offer to a 1st for Anderson as I believe Calgary was offering the 2nd used to nab Ellliot.

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.spor...rovsky/sn-amp/

They suggest:
To Calgary: Sergei Bobrovsky ($3 mil retained)
To Columbus: Mike Smith, 2019 first-round pick, Jon Gillies or Tyler Parsons

Just came across that speculative trade idea and think it may be closer to a potential fit than most of what I’ve seen suggested before. I’d much prefer to replace the 1st round pick they’re suggesting we give up with something else but I’d still probably be ok with the trade as proposed if it’s the best Tre could work out.

That's pretty bad for Calgary. first of all, we can't keep giving away 1st round picks. Second Bob's a UFA at the end of the season so this does nothing to solve the goaltending problems beyond this year.

Pass.

If the 1st is conditional on re-signing?

I don’t get it. Do you search your poop for corn and if you find it, is it more useful to you somehow?

I don’t disagree but do you think there’s at least something to work from with that proposal?

I just think we may have something special put together this year and am really hoping the major weak link thus far is strengthened sooner rather than later in season so the team has plenty of time to build experience with a different goalie. And I’d be so pumped to see 2 time Vezina winner, Bobrovsky, in net for the Flames!

Feel a whole lot more comfortable going into playoffs with a Bob/Rittich tandem than Smith/Rittich

Id love to add Bobrovsky but the assets to get him then the money and term you will have to pay to keep him worries me. Im a bit skeptical he would even want to sign in Calgary. That being said it would be pretty exciting to land him.

Well, yes we CAN keep giving away first round picks, and depending on what quality of starter we want, we have to be willing to part with one.

The second point is pretty easily worked out before the trade.

I’m all for not giving away big assets to find a Grade A goaltender, but I at least hope those who think that’s the way forward also know that the risk of not finding that goaltender increase dramatically. Waiting until free agency means you run the risk of getting nobody, and acquiring someone signed beyond this year likely means you’re giving up big assets. There is a chance we get lucky on either account, but it’s a chance, not something to put any confidence in.

How much do we think Bob is going to get? I feel like the Price deal really skews the market. I can't see him getting more than he's getting at the moment, especial if he continues playing beneath himself this season.

who else will be bidding on Bob?

I don't think the demand will be as high as he might hope.

· New Jersey?
· NYI?

Bobrovsky is currently earning $7.5 m. He will get a contract worth at least $8.0 m.

Columbus
Flames
Philly
Islanders
Carolina
Colorado
Devils
Edmonton
Buffalo

Those are teams that come to mind that don't have really solidified goal-tending.
