I never said it shouldn’t have been said. I only debate the term “routine save” that was put on it by that poster.

It was not a routine save. Not even close to that.

But thanks for the label you gave without seeing what the discussion was.

Rittich better get the start against L.A. if we want to salvage this road trip. Hell, give him the SJ game as well.

Smith was the cause of the loss. Only reason they lost was he put them in a hole

of course it plays into his comments. You're seeing a guy who's learnt from his mistakes (unlike Smith- ba dum bum...)

If only we had a goalie with a .927 save percentage, oh well gotta go with the players you have.

If the Flames had the Ducks save percentage (top 5 in the league) they'd probably be front runners for the west tbqh.

The Ducks are now pretty much Rakell, Getzlaf and their goaltenders, and they'll still flirt with a playoff spot thanks to the latter. Can't be overstated how much above average goaltending does for a team.

Wish we had a Gibson.

Maybe Rittich has upside yet with a bit more of an opportunity to take over the net.

I think they need to put Sigalet and Smith on 'It's a Small World' and then book it to the bus.

Blech. All three of Carolina's goalies are bad. This is not a solution.

That the Ducks without Perry, Gibson, Manson, and Kase are outshot handily and still come up winners is pretty disappointing. That they were 1-6-2 in their last 9, got thumped just last night definitely sucks.

I really thought he was about to hold it together for the 3rd after that great pad save too, but the damage was already done... they couldn't outscore Smith. It's though (and exhausting) to always be playing behind, so hopefully we see Rittich given the chance in LA. It's well past time to start the goalie with a better chance to win, and I think we've tried every optimistic angle to justify starting Smith at this point. Maybe he's regained the net by January, but he's pretty far off being a positive contribution at this point.

Was good to see Jankowski rip one to tie it up. That would have been a huge building point if it rallied, and hopefully we're seeing a threating Jankowski added to this roster. That could be huge, and might be the added kick Bennett needs to keep growing himself.

Neal could have had a hat-trick tonight. More than most games, you could feel like it's coming. He just seemed destined to shatter a post tonight. Any of his chances move an inch tonight and we're headed to OT.

Hopefully Czarnik is here to stay as well. He was pretty noticible out there tonight.

Even in what felt like a pretty rough game at times, there's still so much to be excited about. Look forward to stomping LA - hopefully we have a better option in net...

Yes..

But I remember him saying to the guys on the fan in the offseason that was a regret of his and he learned from it.

He's sticking up for Smith in the media but I'm sure he can't be happy.

He's just a man who has learned from his mistakes.

Maybe. He said he learned from that.

And let’s face it. No NHL coach or GM is going to be transparent with the media which is maybe the lesson he learned.

God dammit, I don't have a good record watching the Flames on the road.

Ducks fans nice enough, thought they were lucky to win the game.

Off to Staples.

I missed the coach's comments. Did Peters say anything about Gaudreau?

I don’t think factoring in the Pitt game when Rittich was thrown halfway into a blowout is a good way to evaluate his sv%.

A trend? Who knows. but he gets a pass far too often when he seems to coast out there a lot more. Tonight it was just s lot more blatantly obvious, but still shielded by people who can’t see past Smith. Mike Smith also just gave up one referee aided 5 on 3 goal two starts ago against the high powered Leafs and people are now running him out of town and he’s trending poorly.

The bigger puzzle with Backlund tonight is why Peters kept throwing him out there when he was having a shocker and really wasn’t engaged at all, and making egregious errors, against a team he doesn’t like playing against to begin with.

there's literally nothing to be gained by trashing your low confidence goalie to the world. Goalie is a mental position number 1 and clearly Smith doesn't believe in himself so by walking around telling the world you think he sucks it probably doesn't improve the situation and would be idiotic.

Janko’s been UNCHAINED!!

Seriously, after tonight’s game it’s pretty obvious he reads CP and felt he had to respond.

we've missed out on raanta, jones, talbot, andersen, hutton, and guys already mentioned like lehner, grubauer, and halak. some of those goalies were more expensive (some were ufas), but you get a .871% and 3.5+ gaa starter and more games like tonight if you don't identify goaltending talent or pay up
