In the NHL if you allow two bad goals in a game, you’ve effectively lost your team the game on most nights.
Smith is horrendous. I’m not blaming him for “everything”, but with average NHL goaltending this is a 2-1 Flames lead.

For sure.
But he needs to be better at some point this season. Our goalies are getting outplayed far too often, which is getting tiresome too.

What’s tiresome is listening to the same 5 people making excuse after excuse for what is easily the worst starting goaltender in the NHL being it eye test or purely on stats. Smith effectively spots the other team a two goal lead night in and night out.

It appears every game thread we have people that defend Smith almost no matter what. There is enough cold hard data at this point to stop. This game is 2-1 Calgary with a competent NHL level goalie in our net.
People can try to defend him all they like, the facts matter (except in American politics). Look at the cold hard data
