Poor kid has had a rough go in the NHL so far. Taken some pretty big hits.

I personally think he should be sent to the AHL for more seasoning. I know a lot of people believe he is too good for the AHL, so why not let him go dominate and re-build his confidence (which I assume is a little low right now with his stats to start and the hits) --> Let him go be the guy in Stockton and lead the league in points.
Bring up Mangiapane and give him a shot.. or Lazar ?!? or is his game not re-built yet and its too early..

They play the next 3 in California and then are off until Thursday against Montreal. The proximity to their farm team makes it easy to do so but I'm betting that even if they do, he (Mangiapane most likely) won't get a game in. Dube will be back in the lineup next week anyway.

The thing is, though, that despite not scoring Dube sure does not appear to be suffering from a lack of confidence. He has looked really good in every game I have seen him play this season. I could understand if he was more recently starting to make mistakes, miss assignments or commit plays out of frustration, but he is not doing any of that.

Dube has made some bad plays, if you haven't noticed you aren't looking. He does work hard though and I love his forecheck.
I still think he needs to go down to the A.

The funniest cliche on cp for me lately has been the "send hm down so he can get his confidence back".
Being told you aren't good enough for an NHL roster isn't a confidence booster.
Watching your pay get cut by tens of thousands of dollars isn't a confidence booster.
The ahl is for ahlers,.

I think the Flames should ice the best roster. IMO Dube is one of the Flames 12 best forwards.

What Dube needs is an off-season with the strength and conditioning coach. He’s too easy to rub out of the play. He has NHL level speed and skills now.

I think that is a very narrow way of looking at it.
Everyone has their own opinion on whether or not he needs to get into the AHL and no one has stated that the "act" of sending him to the AHL will boost his confidence.
In the world, there are individuals who might be a doing a job that they are not qualified for. If my manager tells me to limit my role and learn the basics really well (which for Dube can be improving his strength and not being vulnerable on the ice), then I might not look at it from a negative stance. Instead, I might be okay with learning the building blocks very well that can help me succeed and move further in my career (a position that is way higher than the current job that I am doing)
In other words, if you communicate with someone and help them succeed, then a demotion is not always a bad thing. Keep in mind, we are talking about a player who hasn't spent much time at all in the AHL (not someone like Jankowski who has).
I am not arguing whether he should be sent to the AHL with this post. Instead, I am rebutting your narrow way of thinking about a player being sent down... losing tens of thousands of dollars now is a lot better than being out of the league OR not making millions later on because you didn't improve as a player. Thinking long-term isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Just my thoughts though.

Players graduate from the AHL to the NHL all the time so I don't think you can just label a guy like that.
I don't know about the confidence issue as a reason. Dube has to learn to score and produce as a professional. There is a progression in all forms of learning. Some people can jump through levels but he looks like a guy who could use some time in a slightly slower game to work on the finer points of learning how to score. And it might not hurt for him to mature physically a little more too.
If sending him down crushes his confidence, then I worry about the effect of multiple injuries and extended goalless streaks on his confidence just as much.

I wouldn't mind seeing Mangiapane get a shot before the season is over. Likewise Rychel has had some luck finding the back of the net this season. So long as a player is pushing up from the AHL it makes sense to move down. Not forever, but internal competition is a good thing.

May be a funny cliche, but it is also accurate. Being able to succeed against lesser opponents can be a confidence booster, just as much as constantly failing against tougher opponents can be a demoralizer.

So has Lazar got his confidence back?
10 games, 8 points, maybe time for a call up?

His play screams NHL ready - Tha'ts why he made the team.
Sending him down for "conditioning" is one thing, but there's nobody down there today that is a better choice/fit than Dube.
Dube is still playing like he did when he was chosen to stay up with the team, sure he's been snake bitten but that will change with time. Sending him down sends the wrong message in my mind, and yes were all entitled to our own opinions so I cant discredit anyone else.
I see no reason to send him down, he's been fun to watch every night and outside of taking a handful of dirty hits he's been visible every night and for all the GOOD reasons.

I just haven't seen this play out as much as guys getting sent down after being up for a while and never getting their game back.
Dube is constantly in the play and getting chances. Way more than Mangiapane did in his short stint last year (after dominating in the AHL). Way more than Jankowski is this year (after dominating in the AHL and having a decent rookie season).
Every time Wotherspoon got sent back (and did pretty well) and then got recalled, he was worse in the NHL.

I rather they bring up Mangiapane and give him another shot. Dube definitely deserved to start the season with the Flames and he is probably unlucky not to have a couple of goals already, but I think sending down Dube to the AHL for a month can be good for him.
