I'm a big fan of the Olympics and would love to see them in Calgary but the plan or lack there of is simply too much to vote yes. City council should be ashamed of how they force fed this to Calgarians. I feel like it is more about Council trying to pad their legacy by bringing the Olympics to Calgary.

The proposed plan has too many holes and too many questions to logically vote yes, even as bad as some may want the Olympics (myself included).

No plan for a new arena, refurbishing a 66 year old McMahon Stadium, pouring money into old structures. No thanks. If Calgary is going to host the Olympics it should be done right, with a real plan to leave a real legacy.

I vote yes on it. I'm more likely able to afford to see the Olympics here rather than the expense of seeing it anywhere else in the world. I missed the 88 Olympics I was 6. this would be a great opportunity.

I could actually get behind trying to get the Summer Olympics.. But I don't think the winter Olympics is worth the trouble.

Did the NO person just say that tech and engineer people are not interested in the Olympics? Yikes if true.

The funny thing is it probably would be cheaper for you to fly elsewhere and see things, especially in Asia. Tickets plentiful and cheap, here you'll have a hard time getting face value to anything you wanna see, so prepare to be gouged.

I don't like the answer talking about people with disabilities not using the facilities... My Mom has MS and uses the facilities all the time and actually for free most of the times.

Please show your math. I'm sure it must compare well to the 30000+ lines on the BidCo budget and the analysis done by the Chamber of Commerce and Calgary Economic Development.

You think the winter games are expensive? They have 102 events. The summer has 339.

It's a great party from what I remember of '88, although I was only a teenager at the time. I'm sure it would be a great party the second time around as well, and there do seem to be some nice throw ins there as well.

I'm not comfortable with the City (aka us) being on the hook for any cost overruns. Most olympic games come in well over budget, so I'd expect us to be no different - especially given the flimsy budget we're basing our vote on.

If it was the feds or province footing the bill for overruns I'd probably be on board. But since it's the City then this is one party I don't feel like footing the large budget overruns for.

Easy no for me, too much risk with not enough potential benefit to outweigh it.

The estimate on property tax hikes would take a incredible amount of number crunching but I am glad this gal keeps preaching what my biggest reason for yes is.

Lets say it costs each house $3,000 in increased property taxes over 10 years for olympics.
And lets say that the downtown vacancy subsidizing costs each home $500 this year, $400 next, $300 next and down to 0.

Now lets say no olympics and we save $3,000. With nothing on the horizon, does the downtown vacancy situation not get worse? $500 this year, $700 per house next year, $900 the following year, etc.

The gal on the fan right now who is pushing no talks about how optimistic she is about Calgary's future right now and we don't need the games. What is she optimistic about? Perhaps I am not seeing it.

I voted yes but I'm totally fine with no Olympics if the majority of Calgarians don't want it but man this woman is kind of out there with some of the stuff she's saying.

If I still lived in Calgary I'd be voting No but won't skew the results of this poll.

I have been casually following this process and have noticed the majority of the advertising seems to be for the Yes side. Was the No side given any money to argue their case?

$0. The Yes side literally has an incalculable financial advantage.
