As I go off about every year this garbage comes up again, this is so very bad for men's health for a number of reasons. That aside, now you know. Now go do the right thing and lube up your favourite hand and grasp away friendo.
Does it apply if you're flexible?

That has to be one of the stupidest things I've heard to do in a long time. Bizarre.

It's crazy, the flames have 28 goals in the 3rd periods this year. That's equivalent to the LA kings goal total for the year!

Just Peters saying Dube was probably going to be fine. Saw him laughing and giggling in the dressing room after.

Great. Legalization has infiltrated the Saddledome.

I'm happy to read the ATL after the game, but equally happy to read it the following morning too.

Anyway - always happy to say "Thanks" in a real way, not just by thanking the post.

It's always a treat!!

Does anybody know where to find the three stars from last night? My kid always likes to know and I'm not sure where to find them.

I guess that's what happens when your team is scoring more goals than any other team in the league.

It would be nice if the bottom two lines were producing more, but meh.
Keep in mind though, part of having a deep line-up isn't necessarily having everyone producing as that's impossible, but rather having the threat to score on any shift and wearing the opposition down.

Our third and fourth lines have been incredible at that this year, and I don't think many truly see how valuable a line like Bennett's has been to pushing the pressure to the point where the other team is caught tired and defenseless when our top 6 goes out.

I have fun doing it, even if the hour stretches a little late.

If I didn't come back the next morning and enjoy myself reading over them again along with everyone else, I think I would have felt some burnout by now.

What a great game to be at. The comeback was amazing and it was outstanding to see the Hawks fans seated nearby losing their minds when Keith got tossed on the head first Dube boarding call.

Tkachuks toe drag snipe goal to make it 3-2 was a massive lift to the team.
Gave the team and fans a sense that a third period comeback was possible.

I've had an unhealthy hate for it since day one too. Carolina scored the game winning goal in the third period game 7 of the conference finals against us in 2006 on a powerplay from one of those stupid penalties. Haunts me to this day.

I have no problem with this rule because it is not arbitrary. The play is always a result of offensive zone pressure that leads to players in their own zone exercising less care with their clears than they customarily would. Its also a hard and fast rule—there is no room for interpretation on the infraction: it either is or it is not. It serves its purpose in reducing the frustrating number of offensive zone face-offs when the defending team would continually flip the puck over the boards as a solution to alleviating pressure.

I completely agree.... I would go as far as saying I really like the rule. It helped change the game along with the no change after icings. You see more action as teams get hemmed into their own zone and there is no easy way out such as an icing or throwing the puck over the glass.

On the note of delay of game, what's to stop the league from making glass taller? I'm becoming less interested in hockey as the years go by and I try to watch from the eyes of a casual fan and see what kills the flow and excitement.

Two things stand way out: Icing and puck out of play stoppages. I'm assuming a safety issue with huge panes of glass, but I'd like to see some experimentation with an extra foot or two all around. Keep the game flowing as much as humanly possible.

I would be on board with this. But I think the delay of game rule needs to stay. It has made a huge difference in the number of stoppages in play compared to before its introduction.

One of the big issues when this penalty was introduced was that the tall glass at the ends of the ice did not extend the same distance along the half boards in every arena. That meant that the same clearing attempt could go off the glass and stay in play in one place, and over the glass for a penalty in another. Even people who liked the penalty were complaining about that.

I imagine that problem was fixed long ago, but I don't recall hearing anything about it.

My own position, for what little it's worth, is that if you can get a two-minute penalty for putting the puck out of play, and a two-minute penalty for inflicting a concussion on an opposing player, something is seriously out of whack with the rules. If the punishment fits one offence, it most certainly doesn't fit the other.

If only optically correct glass with a curved end designed to keep the puck in play could be invented. A semi-bubbletop hockey would be great and could make for some really interesting plays.

For sure, but I think the NHL needs to adjust the latter not the former.
