Valimaki should stay, no doubt in my mind.

Dube is interesting. He hasn't looked out of place and I think hes capable enough to cut it on the 3rd or 4th line all season, but is that what's best for his development? Would it be better to go let him be 1st line center on the Heat for a while and bring up Mangiapane? Get Czarnik going again?

I'm not sure what's best.

Hard to say what the right move is with Dube, clearly he can hang, but at this point in his career is that enough?

At the same time, no one in the AHL is really knocking down the door, so it is difficult to suggest that he should be replaced by one of them.

I think Dube is an NHLer and he has looked dangerous at times in most games. Although, he does have a serious case of Lombarditis so far.

Valimaki is incredible.

The skill level Valimaki is showing is very impressive, I know the stat line isn't great yet but he's playing way above what I'd expect a rookie defender to offer.

Neither guys have looked out of place in the NHL so they both need to stay up. Valimaki is playing the hardest position to break into and hasn't looked like a rookie, while Dube certainly isn't scoring at a rate that Monahan was as a rookie, but Dube also isn't hurting the team and in fact, is creating opportunities as a rookie. Dube is just having some trouble bearing down which is not a problem for a rookie. Both players are learning more playing every game with the NHL club than they would in the AHL.

I am honestly not against a 15 game stint in the AHL for both guys, especially since Czarnik and Stone are sitting. I think Czarnik and Stone are as effective, so I'd rather take advantage of this depth and let these guys develop.

Dube is way more effective than Czarnik. He's much better defensively, takes draws well, and seems much more willing to get his nose dirty. Czarnik has speed, but stays to the outside way too much.

That said, I suppose they didn't sign Czarnik to sit him.

Valimaki is looking better all the time, I don't see the need to send him down. He's been fantastic for such a young guy.

I don't see what he'd learn going to Stockton (Dube either). That team isn't really doing well at all now, plus the AHL play is just messy anyway.

I think Dube is being under rated a bit here. The guy is generating just as many chances as any other forward in the bottom 6 imo. The issue he has just like the rest of our depth forwards so far is he can't capitalize on said chances. Hopefully everyone can start actually putting their chances in the back of the net.

What about Andersson.

I've seen some good some bad. He has had quite a few turnover, still, now and then he makes excellent plays. Is he immune to being sent down? I know that the Heat could really use him.

What the Heat can use is the last thing I'm worried about.

Andersson right now is learning a ton by (a) being put into NHL situations and (b) often playing with one of the best all around defencemen in the league. He's also developing chemistry with Valimaki and that's awesome.

I will put up with rookie errors (which, to be honest, I don't see any more than errors from any other defencemen on the team).

I've been thrilled with our rookies.

Clearly Peters has a lot of faith in Andersson and Valimaki. Andersson out with Gio once again late last night, and once again he made 2 great plays to set up the tying goal.

Then Valimaki one of our PKers in OT!

Personally I would send down Dube for a bit and call up Mangiapane. Valimaki and Andersson can stay.

Dube needs to get some scoring confidence - don't need the guy questioning his ability since he's been snakebit at the NHL level. That is how you get the confused Sam Bennett player that has no confidence from last year.

You have Czarnik and Mangiapane who can come into the lineup and be just as effective. Dube can spend 10 games in the AHL and get some of that scoring confidence back.

Dube hasn't showed up on the scoresheet, but he's not out of place either. He'll get his chances and a hot streak to build his confidence. He's not hurting the team and he's making good plays. He should stay. However he needs to learn to pick his battles a bit better and keep his head up. He's gotten clobbered quite a bit since game 1.

Valimaki has looked good too. Doesn't look like a rookie teen defender. He'll continue to grow and get better.

Andersson is going nowhere. By far the best of the rookies and seems to be getting better each and every game.

All 3 have been good so far, haven't hurt the team, and have played roles in various wins. Keep em' around I say!

Not that I disagree with you, because really who am I to say... The whole 1st line minutes in the AHL vs 4th line minutes in the NHL has been debated enough,

but the one thing I hope management takes into consideration (which I'm sure they do) is the fitness level of the players.

Neither Valimaki, Andersson, nor Dube have ever played an 82+ game season before. Being worn down and which could eventually lead to an injury won't do well for anyone's career.

I just really want to know why Andersson isn't on the PP. Especially in place of Ryan. Why is he there? Right handed centre?

Then sit them for a few. NHL press box is much better for rest than going to the AHL, and it's a better chance to teach them.

On Dube, IMO playing third line minutes in the NHL while being around the team and practicing with NHL players is better than first line AHL minutes.

Practices get overlooked a lot but to me that’s a huge part of it. Even if he gets less time in the games the experience he will gain from practice alone is more than enough to negate the minute differential.

I also think he’s been good, just needs to work on finishing on NHL goalies, which he won’t be able to learn in the AHL.

Valimaki is here to stay.

Dube is this team's top forechecker as a 20 year old rookie. The amount of pressure that he put's on the opposition's defense due to his speed and non stop motor is not something that can be taken out of the lineup. He sets a certain precedent for this team that would be sorely missing with him in the AHL.
