Lindy is like a mix between Frolik and Monahan. Parts of his game remind me of those two players. Thats a good thing. The guy has potential to take another step and be a star.

I don't want to hear the hot takes about how good every team the leafs play against are, because they all suck and we are way better. I don't care about their loser rookies that aren't as good as Marner or Matthews and I want them to go away.

I work hard all day and I just want to come home and hear about Leaf hockey.
Can't imagine watching BudNet or TMLSN coming away with the opinion that you need MORE of a homer slant

But I guess anyone wondering what it's like to talk hockey in SW Ontario has a good idea.
"Are you going to tell me how great the Leafs are? No? Not interested.
But I'll yammer at you about Gardiner for 30 minutes assuming you watch all our games. You DIDN'T watch the Buds last Tuesday? Do you even watch hockey, bro?"
Toronto's center of world moniker is well deserved.

That was the first Flames win against Frederik Andersen, ever, he was 7 0 1 against Calgary prior to last night.

CBC news just did the NHL highlights, and of course it was all about the Leafs and how disappointed people are that they lost last night:

"They were without Matthews, but the Leafs are still a deep team, so it shouldn't have been a problem, right?"

I'll bet fans in Montreal think he hates the Habs. Heck I'd bet fans in Vancouver think he hates the Canucks when they play the Leafs.

Its funny.

So it’s their 2nd win against him... but his first loss... man, I HATE the NHL points system... still bugs me.

Hughson is the BIGGEST Canucks homer there is, there was and there ever will be.

While Oilers fans are obnoxious, ignorant and arrogant. Leaf's fans corner the market on unlikability. They are literally the Liver and Lima beans of the hockey world. I went through the Leafs game and post game thread on HF, and it just screams entitled fan base. "Oh why do we always lose to the lousy teams". Man yelled one idiot, "if the Leafs would have shown up its a blow out". "Hurrumph" said some grossly overweight house bound woman, "why are they talking about the Flames, or any other team. It should be Leafs Leafs Leafs, I don't watch games to learn anything about the other teams", or hockey for that matter, as she jammed her 20th twinkie of the day in her mouth before vacuuming the crumbs off of her jersey with her one toothed mouth.

Frankly, no Leafs fans, you're not Canada's team. Nobody from West to East is going to cheer your team on in the playoffs. Oh and with your team playing like entitled trust fund kids, you're going nowhere.

The leafs really didn't skate that well last night, lost tons of puck battles, and we were the better team.

I don't think we can read too much into the performance of smith, he made a couple lucky saves in the last few minutes but still looked shaky but it was good to see him get the bounces when we needed them. I would think it would be a much closer game and probably a flames loss if the leafs were firing on all cylinders last night.

all that said, the forward group looked great, the only exceptions being Mony for most of the game, he looked slow and disinterested and disengaged but he gets a pass on that because when he did show up he got us the win with the huge PP goal and the nice turnover on marner leading to the goal.

The fourth line was really flying last night, and aside from getting caught on an extremely long shift that basically led to the leafs goal after they finally made a change but left the D stranded, they were awesome.

I didn't think ryan was great but his linemates were picking up the slack for him which was good.

Bennett and Backlund continue to be extremely unlucky, Bennett with the puck on his stick for an empty netter that got blown down, and a post, Backlund with a fairly wide open net that he fired into anderson's crotch.

Second line was excellent, and frolik seems to have found his legs which was critical.

All in all a good game but I think a lot of the good stuff might get overplayed as their opponent really didn't show up.
I find this comment confusing. I thought he looked quite engaged, had hard forechecks and, more importantly, great backchecks.

One nitpick on the game.

Throwing the 4th line out there for a defensive zone faceoff with under 2 minutes left in the 2nd period was an idiotic decision by our coaching staff IMO.

Leafs won the faceoff, hemmed in the 4th line, easily changed out to the Tavares/Marner line (short change in the offensive zone), and if not for the clock would have scored the games first goal.

After dominating the game for the most part up to that point a bad coaching decision almost caught us trailing.

I read somewhere that when the NHL went to two refs per game that they had a hard time filling all the roles with qualified officials... I'm not convinced that the level of talent has improved since then.

Stone has quietly had a pretty good season.

I'm not going to ignore what's coming, and that's a very good NHL defenseman in Rasmus Anderson, but it's hasn't been a slam dunk to date.

To date Stone has been the third best blueliner on the team in what he gives up in shot attempts per 60 minutes behind the top pairing. Andersson is last.

I love me some Rasmus Andersson though, and I do think it's inevitable that they move Stone out and bring in a cheaper utility defender to sit in the press box as a Andersson fill in.

But you don't need to be a Stone apologist to give the man some credit.

I haven't had a problem with how Stone has played this year. I get the contract complaint, but at the same time in a 82 game season, he's a guy that I would feel better having then not having.

I think he's definitely got another step or 2 to take. The great thing about Swedish players is that they generally take a bit longer to develop then other players. BT got him at the perfect time. He looks like he's due for a huge breakout...and he's only in year 1 of his contract.

He has fit like such a glove on the 1st line and has a wicked shot. Can't believe doesn't even have 20 goals in a season yet. Hamilton might have been the best player in the trade. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if it ends up being Lindholm pretty soon.

Just though reading the ATL report, it’s actually amazing how insulated and biased those leafs fans are. Usually when I read ATL reports there’s at least some compliments by other teams fans about the other teams players or at least some respect shown after being beat or in this case dominated. You get not an ounce of that from leafs fans. It’s like other teams and players do not exist. That’s a toxic fan base imo, maybe it’s because they have so many more fans but wow do they look like a bunch of whiny nurotic individuals
