I think it was common for immigration officers to do that to people coming into the country from Europe back in the day- arbitrarily shortening family names that were difficult to pronounce. And often the families had no say in the matter.

The flames played a very similar game last year vs the leafs where they dominated but I believe lost in a shootout. I hope that’s not a sign

This is how I've heard it often happened. No one said "Our name is too difficult...", but rather someone at the port of entry said " Your name is too difficult..."

I think most people are pleased with how they look (I am) but annoyed with the lack of finish. It’s been an issue for a while now

Good period for the Flames. We will win more than lose if we play like this. Hoping Bennett line buries a couple.

The real concern isn't that we played poorly, it's that we failed to score. This team, like most NHL teams, has difficulty sustaining pressure for 60 minutes so that was a waste of 20 minutes of legitimate dominance.

The forwards are helping on defence a lot more, and their sticks are way more active tonight.

The lack of comments about Brodie is a good thing. He's looking solid defensively tonight.
