Against most opponents, that might have been a closer game than it was, but the Flames were just outclassed talentwise. Simple as that.

I will take this positive out of that game:

We have a game like this every October. Usually it's against McDavid and the Oilers but this wasn't, so I can live with it.

Well I guess Peters got his 10 o’clock answer... and Smith was right it’s easy to talk about showing up but quite another thing to actually do it, especially against a solid contender.

put it in the game thread but will re-post here:

At what point do people wake up and finally point the finger at the most over-rated GM in franchise history??

Gets worked on trades (even by Garth Snow), makes ridiculously terrible UFA signings, and can't find a good coach or goalie despite switching them up every couple years.

You don't win in this league without good coaching and goaltending, and the over-rated one has yet to deliver both in any season he's been here. He can't pass GM 101 despite several attempts.

Was handed a pretty good situation when he got here and has failed to achieve anything of significance with it.

But he's good at RFA signings and he talks a great game, so there's that.
