The last 3 games, the Flames special offence, special teams, and defense. . . .

Can't blame Smith on all those goals, but I think it's time for Peters to run with the hot hand and go with Rittich, at least so we can try and string a few W's together.

First goal, Smith positioned himself poorly in net. Sure it was Crosby but Smith was too far in with poor positioning.
Third goal, no rebound control by Smith.

This place is a lot more fun than the game.
"Trade everyone, rebuild time".
Holy hell, get a grip.
Pretty clear that this team had a lot more than a coaching problem last season. Most people knew that.
Zero pushback when losing, rinse and repeat.

Not sure what this coaching staff is trying to implement, but this team is completely clueless in its own zone, and on special teams.

Let's be honest. Do the Flames have 4 or 5 goals in them tonight? I think not. I'm going to bed.

What's worse, the Flames, or these UCP ads?

But who's to say that this is the right coach to try and recover a team? He has zero success with his last team. and it looks to me like the flames are on their way to an even 500 by the end of the night.

hard to control a rebound when the guy is allowed to walk right in

I have nothing to add other than I wish this team didn't suffer from bipolar disorder. Can we get a team shrink in to help these guys?

At a certain point, you have to stop blaming the coach. Flames are going to get blown out some nights, everyone does. The zero pushback is what concerns me.

If they continue to mismanage the puck and play horribly without the puck...4 or 5 won’t be near enough.

I'll start qualifying a goal that's not on the goalie when I see a goalie that makes more tough saves than he doesn't. As it stands right now, any tough shot thrown his way has a really good chance going in. That we can dissect each goal and quantify it as 'not his fault' ignores how often you have to do that to pardon Smith. A good goalie finds a way to make that save, even if he'd have been excused for letting it in.
Mike Smith has been absolute garbage for most of his time as a Flame. He started great, but since the All-Star break he has been absolutely terrible. He has a long road to regaining any kind of confidence in net, let alone the benefit of the doubt.
Has D been terrible? Absolutely awful, yes. But time and time again, Mike Smith is rarely there to save the guys a period. If you make a mistake in front of Mike Smith, he will let it in.
Goal #1 was on Smith IMO. Sam could have covered him much better, so he's a pair with Smith on that - but Bennett's poor coverage is only on the scoresheet when your last line of defence is Smith.
Goal #2 was a tip with no one in front, but it would be damn nice to have a goalie that would stop one or two of those
Goal #3 was Smith letting out a rebound, and no one on D helping him out.
Could this be 3-0 with a great goalie in net? Absolutely. I don't think I've had too much great to say about anything the Flames have done tonight.
But night after night, Mike Smith is not the goalie that helps us win. He'll have the odd night here or there that we can hang our hat on for a month, but Mike Smith is not the goalie that wins you much of anything.

It could be worse everyone...you all could be a fan of the 2-win Panthers.
For some inexplicable reason, I have a soft spot for losers.
