Not sure where to post this. Anyone know how many goals Bennett has had called back? Has to be a Flames record.

Bennett played really well last night and should have had a goal. I liked the look of that line and hope they stay together for the next few games.

I know in 2015/2016 alone he had 4 goals called back, plus 2 playoff goals vs ANA in 2015 and 2017, then last night.
So 7 total in his career.

None in 2016-17 or 2017-18 regular seasons?

I don't think so after scrubbing through my videos for those 2 seasons.
Monahan had 3 called back last year (offside in Vegas, early whistle on a delayed penalty in Arizona, offside at home vs Vancouver).

Here are the other 6 goals that Bennett had disallowed:
vs ANA (2015)
@ COL
@ COL (same game!)
@ SJ
@ NSH
@ ANA (2017)
Honestly, all 6 still look like legitimate goals to me, early whistles and "inconclusive" replays.

GG almost killed him but he might be coming back slowly.

He seems to thrive on individual efforts kind of Crosby like, I think maybe he was held a bit too much instead of let loose. I could see those goals called back, the added responsibilities of learning to play the center being factors on his confidence level. With GG and staff gone, Geoff Ward's experience in working with talent might better for Bennett's development.
Not sure if this has been posted before. Interesting article on Geoff Ward's work with first round draft pick and some other talented guys.

When the lines go cold I wouldn't mind giving something like this a look:
Gaudreau-lindholm-neal
Tkachuk-monahan-bennett
Dube-backlund-czarnik
Mainly I'd like to see tkachuk bennett given an opportunity together

That top line is going to be motoring along all year. Not to mention Johnny and Monny just gel way too well to ever really be split up.
If you want Tkachuk and Bennett together:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Bennett-Backlund-Tkachuk
Neal-Dube-Czarnik
Frolik-Jankowski-Ryan

Bennett in that 2015 Anaheim game, just wow. Glen Gulutzan really did a number on this poor kid.

The biggest thing I wonder about Sam Bennett is if he even wants to sign with the Flames after this season or if he plans on holding out for some kind of trade. With how deep this line up is, players like him, Frolik, Neal, Jankowski, Ryan are playing less minutes than they’re use to playing, so If the season doesn’t go the way he’s hoping for, I wonder if he requests a trade ala Bartschi.
Sam Bennett has a lot of pride in his game and as a former 4th overall pick, he’s going to have high expectations on what his game at this level should be and I’ll bet he wants out to prove he can thrive as a top 6 forward in a different organization.

Sven basically used the threat of going to Europe as leverage
I don’t see Sam doing that

If he truly has pride in his game he will start playing at a higher level and prove he's a player. Not ask for a trade so he can get pushed up the roster on a weak team.

I know Gulutzen gets a lot of hate here, but to fair, he treated Sam Bennett really well despite contrary belief. He played him on average 14-15 minutes per game and in all situations. Not once did he play him under 9 minutes a game either and he’s already done that twice this season in just 3 games. Sam Bennett even had a great stretch in December where he scored 13 points in 14 games and started looking like an absolute beast but that ended up being short lived.
I don’t if Sam Bennett’s career trajectory will be that of an energy line player or a top 6 forward, but all I know is it’s his last year of his bridge deal and it’s looking more and more like it could be his last season here if he doesn’t figure it all out.

I also don’t see him signing another multi year deal here just to play inconsistent minutes on the 3rd or 4th line. Also, unlike Sven, he’s also put in 200+ games (likely 300) with the Flames organization and if we don’t end up using him up to his standards, I could see him requesting a trade to see if he can make it in a different organization. Treliving has also shown interest in giving players a chance to thrive elsewhere as he’s traded Bartschi, Kulak, Granlund, Byron and etc.
