full two minute 5 v 3 PP. two more PP's for the preds on top of that this period. IMO 20 seems low. smith's doing that team MVP thing he was doing a lot on the road last year before he went down.

Agreed . Need to really shut them down in the third.....smith will burn out fast if we let that many shots continue......he’ll have ptsd soon if this continues

Kinda but not really. They are on the road without last change and there have been a lot of whistles.
When you add in the fact Laviollette likes to match, it affects how much you can get your 4th line out.

A really really good team pressed the Flames hard that period. Two full minutes of a 5 on 3, two minutes of a 5 on 4 - and the Flames kept battling.
This is fun to watch.

Disagree. A few times he has jumped up on the rush and looked good. He is adapting and looking fine.

Another ridiculous disallowed goal on top of another 5 on 3 against. Deja vu...
On the plus side, Mike Smith’s game is back. Guy seems to at his best when facing a lot of shots. His performances when facing high shot volumes is very impressive.

Preds were bringing their "A" game in the second half of that period. It's nice to see the Flames being able to hang with the big teams when they're playing their best. Really great defensive work on second shot opportunities. Smith is doing his job and the rest of the team is cleaning up the rest.
Couple that with a killer power play tonight and this is an excellent overall game so far from the Flames tonight.
