Remember when Chiasson played with Johnny and Monahan? The entire line suffered. because the puck always died on Chiasson's stick.

Plus, the league is very full of parity. Even the smallest differences can result in wins or losses.
Imagine a 4th line with 3 Tom Kostopulous's. He got 22 points (amazingly consistent) every year. That's 66 points coming from a 4th line.
Imagine a 4th line with 3 Peluso's. They each get 3 points a year. That's 9 points total.

In a league with parity, the team with 3 Kostopulous's can and will win a lot more games. The difference between a 92% goaltending and a 91% goaltender is huge. Same goes for the difference between a Peluso and a Jankowski.
These guys rarely play, less time for Peluso, means more time for the better players, don't see what the issue is. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindohlm, Neal get more shifts, what's the problem with that?

Skill players like having a tough guy on the team. Gretzky demanded that McSorley be traded with him to LA. Iginla specifically thanked all the tough guys in his retirement press conference. Brett Hull has publicly thanked and praised Tony Twists' presence on his teams many times. Mony and Gaudreau loved having Big Ern on the team and are good buddies, if they really resented him, would they be buddies?

The actual players, skill players, greatest players of all time, all vouch for having a tough guy in the lineup and say that it helps them feel comfortable on the ice.

Why do the few who have never played in the NHL keep trying to tell everyone how bad it is? It the 12th forward spot, it's insignificant, it doesn't make or break the team. The results of the game are dependent on your best players, the core, being the best players and not on the 12th forward or 6th defensemen.

Unfortunately, the 12th forward or 6th defensemen can have a disproportionate effect on the outcome of the game in proportion to their time on ice. It only takes two shifts on the ice to take two bad penalties or make two bad plays that result in two goals against.

So is it Hathaway then? I thought Peluso was supposed to be playing on the 4th line.

I guess Peluso (or Hathaway) in is an issue if you like how Ryan and Frolik have played and think they will get less ice time along with Peluso.

On that point, not a whole lot of people have liked either guy (I haven't had a really negative opinion) though. But it would be nice to be able to even out the ice times on the bottom six.

You can say that for any line realistically. Had the Flames had someone to police in the opener, personally I don't think the momentum would have shifted so much in Vancouver's favor. That and we also don't have Hamonic out for weeks.

As soon as Gubranson beat up Hamonic, you'd be remiss to not think the rest of the Canucks played more freely knowing they had the toughest guy in the game.

If having 1 guy on the roster that makes 8 guys play better, tougher, or more freely, this in itself justifies having that tough guy.

Peters can also doubleshift one of the other forwards on this line and hold back Peluso, especially if they are chasing the game late. Throw Gaudreau out there on the left, switch Frolik back to the right, keep the line as is but throw Neal on for another shift, etc.

I like them right where they are, on the 4th line and off the PP.

Frolik and Ryan are good utility players that are ideal for PK, face-offs and puck possession.

I think they are both useful so long as they aren't over utilized.

I'd be ok with that, a Bennett breakout and I haven't donated to Bingo for awhile
