He seems more the type to pursue known commodities than to deal such guys for potential.
I wouldn't put valamki or Dube in the build around them just yet. They have potential but haven't proven anything yet.

Very serious goaltending concerns.

They look pretty good offensively, but their defence has been sloppy with too many odd-man rushes and high-quality scoring chances given up in both of these games. Smith has been a little shaky as well, which hasn't helped. They've also had some bad luck (puck bouncing over Neal's stick, Johnny losing his stick in the defensive zone, phantom penalty call on Stone resulting in the 5 on 3.)

Honestly, with a new coaching staff, new systems and lots of turnover from last year, I think it's gonna take them a few games to find their groove. As painful as these two games have been, I'm still confident they'll get it together. The PP already looks better tonight, the forecheck has been really good, and they've looked dominant at times and have generated plenty of great scoring chances.

They just need to tighten up the defensive mistakes and find their confidence around the net. I noticed a few plays tonight where they're making one too many passes, or passing it off when they should be shooting (Neal, I'm lookin' at you).

Agree, but I don't see that as a favorable pronouncement of management.

They look just fine. I mean they're no Elias flipping Petterson but they're good and doing far more than a lot of the other players out there tonight. So lets pump the brakes on pumping the brakes. We don't need to crap on everything.

These are the exact same players I would choose to build around and I love the one major omission missing from this list. Trade him for a haul at the deadline if things are spiraling and reap the rewards at the draft. This team has elite young pieces, there is just some fat that needs to be trimmed.

It's a 5-3, there isn't a ton a guy like him can do.
Exactky this, agreed and pretty much goes without saying. It's a 5 on 3. If he gets in front of boeser, it frees up far winger. That pass was hanifins to cover. Boeser does what he is supposed to do which is turn your back to the defender to prevent a stick check.

Trading assets at their lowest has been a mistake for this franchise and you are asking them to do it again
So just not playing him is the best alternative is what you are suggesting?
