Hamonic is out week to week.

Give Prout his game, and then let Andersson play the next 2/3.

No. I would rather Bennet focus on his game than taking meaningless fights.

Yes, and there is a reason that Calgary went hard after Ryan Reeves.

They also have Derek Engelland in their lineup.

Ok, he hits, I guess, but I'd like a Dman out there with a little snarl. Stone doesn't bring that (see Lucic ragdolling Smith last year).

If the reason for Prout over Rasmus is this, it makes perfect sense. Two rookies in the defense is a recipe for trouble. Prout has the experience and Rasmus was just recalled.

If it’s just to start a fight, that’d be pretty dumb.

Yeah, that's possible. But it is interesting to see that Rasmus Andersson actually played in more NHL games last season than Prout.

I agree I don't think it would happen. I like that Hamonic stuck up for Dube but only because the hit was a bit dirty. Not a fan of players starting fights just because a teammate was hit with a clean check.

Interesting though it looks like there is some history for these two. Grunbranson with decision.

The hit was only dirty because Gudbranson was a split-second late. It's not like he lined Dube from the opposite half-wall and took six strides into him.

A bit late?

Dube never even touched the pack. The hit isn't late its a big open ice hit that was interference.

Late?

No, extremely early and high.

Right, early. And this is one of those situations in which the dramatic difference in two players's size renders a hit much higher-looking than it actually is.

The key point here is that this was a split-second incident without premeditation. It's interference and if it were up to me the head contact would be an automatic major. But not "dirty" in the sense that Gudbranson was taking a cheap shot.

This was not a split second decision. He has Dube lined up and comes in and finishes the check when the puck isn’t even close to either of them. This his was 100% predatory and 0% reactionary. It was a cheap shot on an unsuspecting player. Why was Dube unsuspecting? Because the puck was no where near him.

I think hitting guys without the puck needs to be a more serious penalty. Interference doesn’t really do it justice.

In football, it’s the difference between holding and unnecessary roughness and supplementary discipline.

I want Andersson to play but I also want Prout to punch Gudbranson in the face for being a dirty piece of #### so I’m good with this either way.

Is Gudbrandson really going to fight again? He already fought. He's not a regular fighter.

It's over and dealt with.

Time to play hockey, Flames. Dress your best roster.

Prout isn't/shouldn't be dressing for retribution. He's dressing to fill a spot, as well as add some general team toughness.
