For those wondering Carolina has waiver priority over Calgary.

Calgary has waiver priority over Philly.

I wonder who is the odd man out in Philly? I would assume Elliott, but Neuvirth hasn't exactly lit the town on fire either.

Lack is in Jersey. Carolina has Darling and Mrazek

Of course, Calgary couldn't take ahead of Carolina so that one's moot.

Canes announced Darling will be missing a couple weeks due to injury. So it is conceivable McElhinney ends up on waivers again when Darling is healthy again.

So, Lazar on waivers is just a paper transaction?

I personally would’ve claimed Pickard, but it’s not a big deal the Flames chose to pass. Neither Pickard nor McElhinney is a near guaranteed improvement over Rittich. This way all the goalies can continue to develop in optimal settings. I’m hoping the Flames find a creative way to get a goalie this year via trade. Over the past number of seasons, good goalies have been traded for surprisingly little.

^ The Canes can't be happy with him. Showing up last year out of shape, already hurt this year. Likely a good deal of buyer's remorse going on there.

Oh, and the owner is a nut. So no one's job is safe.

Gives the team 30 days of flexibility if making a trade/a guy they like is on waivers.
Gives the the chance to wait on whether Lazar is staying in pressbox or going to AHL, less risk waiving now than once season starts and injuries pile up

Jaskin to WSH makes sense. Wilson is going to be sitting for about a month. Plus, their 4th line is pretty sketchy as it is. Jaskin should be able to fill in there somewhere.

We'll find out this afternoon when the opening roster is announced. Even if he isn't sent down immediately, they do have a 30 day/10 game window to send him down without needing to put him on waivers again.

oic, and also leaving the door open if the Flames are to make a waiver claim of their own at F or D.

F or D claim? Why? Neither will happen.

A goalie claim is a small possibility.

Wonder how many teams still need to pass goalies through waivers.

Jaskin was a good pick up IMO. Only 25, has been really good defensively at the NHL level, and still may have offensive upside since he produced well at the AHL level.

Watch him step in to Wilson’s spot with the other Russians on that top line and find his offensive game.
