Modano a King

Los Angeles, Ca - Waking up this morning, Coach Keenan discovered he had a new number one center in the form of Mike Modano. "What happened to Briere?" said a groggy Keenan when interviewed on the phone regarding the late night move. Actually Daniel Briere still remains in town but going to the East and the cozy confines of Buffalo are Wolski and Steen.

"Well this is a move that definately will help us in terms of scoring. The only problem now is finding a place to give minutes to all the players. It looks like we have 7 top 6 forwards. We have good chemistry and we believe the Modano will give us the leadership and experience we have been lacking for some time. He will immediately step in as captain of the team." said GM Sra on the latest move. "Both Wolski and Steen will have good long careers, but we felt it was necessary to have another scorer and Mike also provides us with good depth in case of injury. We feel it is a win-win for both clubs".

Modano was reached for comment at LAX as he departed the Kings private jet donning a pair of sunglasses. "I am excited to be here. It looks like this team is of playoff caliber and there is a lot of talent here. I think we can make something happen on the ice. I am not sure who I will be lined up with but I am looking forward to it." Modano was then quickly whisked away in the Kings Limo en route to the mansion.

Kings Korner - Rumors have it that the excess of forwards may lead to another trade which sees a forward traded for a defender. Rumors also have it that Cloutier's job may no longer be safe as the Kings are interested in 'tending depth.

I like this deal for the Queens. I have my doubts about Steen and I don't know if Wolski will ever be rated 80+.

yeah its hard to say. I'm sure this is a deal that would be questioned by many

it hasn't been much fun to run the Sabres lately. old , expensive and losing is a bad combo

I think we're going have a bit more fun at least losing with young kids and trying some new things

we happen to like Wolski (who I think is scoring on par with Modano in the NHL this year) and Steen although truly terrible in the NHL this year we think can still be a player, had a good rookie season

either way Sabres weren't going to do anything in the window we had Modano sadly. and I could never really figure out how to get him going, for some reason he was being outplayed by his linemate Jan Hrdina

Sabres will now focus on scouting Sam Gagner, Angelo Esposito et al

Steen is far too talented a kid not to turn it around. He was considered a blue chip prospect through his development, had a great campaign and is now just suffering through a tough shopmore season - not unusal in the least.

Even steven on this one.

I think Modano is going to cringe when he see's what the price of Dog Food is in Hollywood. Retailers there love to take advantage of celebrity's who throw money around like confetti. A bag of Purina proplan is rumored to go for $200 a bag. Whereas in Buffalo that same bag is $32. Mike won't like it.

Not that he won't like it, but Willa won't let him go!

Good deal for both teams I guess.

Modano's career seems to be winding down and he's pretty expensive. Come next year he won't be nearly as valuable. But right now he's one of the highest rated players in the league.

And Steen/Wolski are talented but probably won't have high ratings until at least 2 years from now. A good start to the rebuild for Buffalo and a huge deal for LA because they get a top line player for 2 guys rated as 4th liners today.

'tis true. the reason I liked Wolski and Steen is that their rankings are already into the 70s...Steen has actually ok rankings in a few areas...figure these guys might be handy by next season as opposed to better young prospects who might still be several years away from a sim-pulse
