What’s there to “cut”? He’s a bubble player. We will need bubble players sporadically throughout the season.

Yeah they can. AHL teams play a lot of weekend back to backs (sometimes 3 in 3 even) so they can just split duties for the most part with Gillies getting slightly more.

I could have sworn he played a game in Calgary. I am pretty sure he was on the ice when Klimchuk scored. i also remember bitching about his game while in the dome.

Yeah he played 15 minutes in the OT loss to WPG.

I like that all 4 RW can move up and down the lineup;

went from 2 deep on RW last year, with Ferland and Frolik likely playing a line or two higher than their skill would dictate
now 4 deep on RW, with legit competition for top, middle and bottom line, and Hathaway and Lazar pushing from the bottom instead of being force fed 3rd and 4th line minutes

Why not Tkachuk + Backlund?

I think Tkachuk will be used with a few pairs throughout the season. Backlund + Frolik I've seen as better together personally, whereas Tkachuk I can see being very useful with other pairs as well.

I would rather my bubble players be Foo, Mangiapane, Lazar, and peluso than Hathaway.

I guess i take back saying "cut" and just say send through waivers and out to california

That's flattering that you think that highly of Canadian hockey fan knowledge.

You still need guys to travel with the team and not dress. I’d rather EatBread and Foo play full time.

While I am not thrilled to see Tkachuk with Backlund and Frolik, that is a small price to pay (and we know it's an effective line) in order to see those 3rd and 4th lines, which I love!

I have been in favour of Czarnik with Bennett and Jankowski for a while. I think Czarnik would add just the spark and playmaking ability that the other two need.

And the idea of Neal with two speedsters like Ryan and Dube is, frankly, brilliant. Can't wait to see these lines!

Bottom line though, no matter how you slice them, I believe these are the 12 forwards that the team should run with.

Yeah, having speed, skill and a deceptive shot that shoots right on that wing would be massive. Czarnik already looks to be in mid-season form and is feeling confident too. And those three, should the 3M line stay intact, would be seeing a whole lot of high ground.

We suddenly have in our bottom 6 an abundance of speed, skill, two-way ability, with a bit of grit/nastiness to spice it up.

If we want to roll four lines that each present some offensive threat, then there is no way Lazar or Hathaway belong anywhere near this lineup. And if that's not what we wanna do, then we're gonna have trouble winning this year...especially if we get questionable goaltending, which seems quite plausible this year. From watching this preseason, it seems like they shouldn't even be the first call-ups, let alone a 13th forward/4th liner. There are other guys who seem capable of stepping up to the plate and providing more skill and more offense than Lazar or Hathaway seem to be capable of providing.

I still find it funny that both players we were debating over leading up to the 2013 draft are skating on a line together as Flames. Imagine going back and telling everybody then.

646 votes between the two and it was Lindholm who won by just a hair over 1%.

Is the link for the game up yet? I'm hoping to cast it to my TV.
