Hogstrom

I have never heard that name before in my life.

Guess I've missed a few pre-season games.

Hogstrom has been injured since the beginning of camp. He hasn't been skating with any of the practice groups.

Foo was not really close to earning a spot. Given his age, he will really need to impress in Stockton.

That is still a ton of defensemen left in camp.

So effectively the team is down to 32 = 17F, 12 D, 3G considering Hogstrom is down/starts on season opening IR

With the 4 PTOs left, they have not played in the last 2 games - could be guys added to lineup in next game to rest some guys before the preseason finale? Auditioning for AHL deal/sign to a 2 way and waive to demote right away for AHL depth? If the top 4 is set, then the PTO guys on D could fill out a 3rd pair, to allow the coaches to both rest guys who are locked in and give fringe guys more ice to evaluate

Discounting the PTOs gets the team to 28 = 16F (2 go down), 9D (2 go down) 3G (1 goes down) - so we are getting close to the team to open the season!

Hopefully Kylington goes down and relishes the opportunity to be Stocktons #1 dman and runs with it.

He seems close but still needs to refine a couple things to make it as an impactful NHLer.

I assume Samuelsson, Siemens, and Falk are just being kept around so they have an even number of d-men for line rushes in practice. None of them have played in the last three games, which have featured the guys who are fighting for the 5-7 D spots.

Not surprised by Shaw. He's a big body who can skate and is defensively responsible. He can play center or winger (mostly winger). He's a bigger Curtis Lazar. He might be one of the last cuts or even make the team as an extra forward.

Kylington was solid. He'll be ready in a year.

I assume the 14th forward/facepuncher role is between Peluso and Shaw. Peluso probably has the edge because he's already under contract, but it is a two-way so he could easily be buried in the minors.

Didn't Foo have the option to sign with the Greasers, but chose the Flames instead? Obviously, I understand why he chose Calgary, but you've got to think as a career move, signing in Edmonton would have been much smarter. He'd likely be on the top line looking at a 6x6 contract.

I'm a bit disappointed to see Kylington reassigned but he definitely had an impressive preseason. Hopefully we see him back in Calgary at some point during the season.
