So I could have waited until tomorrow before I paid for NHL.tv I see.
I was annoyed I missed the 1st but now...not so much.
Maybe I will go for a run.

Would it be too much to ask for this team to show up and play well in the fall? I realize this game doesn't matter but it's the same thing every year where they sleepwalk through pre-season leading to a beat down in the opener.

Hey! They are interviewing Clark Wilm on 960 right now.
One of the guys in the Young Guns era who gave an honest effort each night.
Says his first moment of it being real was his first game at the Saddledome. Flames fan growing up.
Mentions Derek Morris, Marty St. Louis, COry Stillman, Iginla amongst others. Buddies on the team included Jason Weimer, Cale Hulse - great group of guys who were the same age.
Would have been nice to win a lot more games but guys went on from Calgary to have very successful careers.
Comment that the theme from players from this era was that Sutter told them to have their fun, but everyone is in it together. Seems to be a bond with the crew. Spent a lot of time together away from the rink. Different era. No cell phones - no pictures - could go out with 10 or 15 guys and no one cared, no issues. Really built comaraderie. Feels bad for guys now because they can't go out in a big group without drawing a big crowd.

Cut down immediately to only those that have a chance, practice and play last two games as a complete group. Why are we still auditioning so many with no chance so late in preseason. Drives me nuts every year and they always, always start the season 5 games in.

If I may take up for Prout’s poor performance tonight, he’s playing with Stone.

Kulak and Kylington have also been bad.
Anderson is looking like he's the best, just because he's not a disaster today.
Rittich not making a strong case for himself. 4 goals in on 12 shots.
Many guys are not even getting into the lineup.
Lazar, Phillips, and Gawdin are all -2 on the night.
I don't know. I think cuts would have been easy before today. Now they're just obvious.

They are clearly exhausted. Tonight makes 8 games in 11 nights, plus the two rookie games, not to mention flying to China.
And they are playing like it.
Also, please put the Kulak-Stone pairing to pasture.

Ha Wilm. He’s been working as a contractor in Saskatchewan last I heard.

fortunately those late starts haven't impacted their tremendous regular season success.
Besides, I really need 4-5 games before I can decide if Big Burd is going to make the team.

Most of the goals on Rittich are guys in all alone with space and time
Quit counting shots and goals like it means anything

Peters coaches tight gap control. The opposite of what Gulutzan coached. This must have something to do with the opposition getting in all alone. Players are still figuring it out?

Wasn't it 2011 or 2012 when the Flames went undefeated in the preseason? Look how well that turned out.
You've got a squad of AHL'ers on the Sharks playing their arses off and fighting for roster spots. The Flames' top guys on the other side are clearly mailing it in as most vets do in September. Not sure why people are getting so worked up over this.
Rittich does look awful though.

Gotta love "The Clunker."
Saw an ad in the Regina Leader-Post a few years ago, announcing an upcoming charity event of some sort, which billed Wilm as "former NHL Superstar Clarke Wilm." Wish I had saved it.
