How low is our confidence in the Flames front office when the status quo and not missing an open net is met with relief and, quite frankly, excitement.
"They didn't mess this up! High fives!"
The trouble is, they've still got to design some primaries soon. And unlike a third jersey, we'll be stuck with those for years. Hold on, kids. Yes, I am that cynical.

Split can you do this one side by side with your other beauty that everyone likes? Just wanted to see the difference

^ It is very true, sadly.
I do have that sinking feeling that these never become the primaries, and in 2-3 years we see another kick at the 3rd jersey replace this one. It seems crazy, nuts and pessimistic... but that would be the TRUE Flames Throwback: something none of us asked for in place of what we liked.

Ah I see the difference, yours had a thicker stripe in the middle (which I kind of like more) but this is still good and will probably get one for my 40th next year.

What would get me fairly aroused would be a redesigned set of primaries using the original colour palette. No gimmicks, no black, no silly crests or scripts. A new classic, if you will.
While I like the retro and it was the right decision for right now, they haven't actually designed anything NEW that looks half decent since they wisely went to the red primaries with the '04 shirts. Since then, we've got flags, scripts, black, and the Ronald one-off for the Heritage Classic. Not a great track record. They can pat themselves on the back for going retro again, but until they actually design something new that isn't terrible, I'll fear the next primaries. They haven't had a design home run in what will be at least 15 years.

Yup!
The '89 jersey has a thin-thick-thin along the arms and I carried that over to the waist in mine.

I noticed that. Looks like there is a generational thing for the Horse Head jersey. I guess everyone likes the jersey of their youth. I wouldn't mind a new jersey for that reason. Even ugly jerseys can become beloved with time.

I'm pretty satisfied (or maybe relieved?) with these. I think the logo is little too low, and I'd maybe have it a touch smaller, but overall, it's what it needed to be.
Now make them permanent. They are not retro, they are the Flames.

It'll be interesting to see how ownership takes this. This is not a poor response to the jersey itself, but to it being the same thing people have seen over and over.
Hopefully ownership realizes that this is the result of covering your ears for the last decade. From the majority of the feedback the ownership is receiving, fans have purchased one jersey from them since 2007 that they are happy with; and today they brought it back for you to buy it again! It's kind of like your Christmas gift being something they stole from you last year.
Can you imagine the wildly different response they'd be receiving today if they reinstated the retros when they should have last year and rolled out a well-done 3rd jersey today instead?

Hell, they're allowed a 3rd and a retro. Imagine if this was the primary, you tried something cool and wild with your 3rd... and rolled out your Blasty retro.
You're printing money at this point.

Hopefully not. This was a big swing and miss by the Flames, just let the retros die already. Big amounts of yellow and red will always be such an ugly combination, combine that with no black and its just such a fail. This whole retro love thing really comes off as a CP thing to me because most of the response from Flames fans everywhere else is wanting to shelve these forever and rightly so. The 04 design should be our regular jerseys, hell even the horse head is much better than these.

The good news is that the Flames don’t read those comments. How long have we had the flags now?

That is not it at all. The majority of feedback of fans has been the retros are outdated and not appealing to the eye at all. That is why the majority of Flames fans on social media other than CP don't like it.

I know you hate the retros (as you mention it in every jersey thread), but the vast majority of fans love it. To say this is a big swing and a miss by the Flames is absurd. This is precisely what most people wanted. It’s a safe move for sure, but it’s definitely the right move.

Ok, you claim the vast majority of fans love it yet every time they have rolled them out the majority of fans on social media have complained. CP does not represent the vast majority of fans by itself. This is like arguing flat earthers are right because they have a small dedicated vocal community.

I think a lot of people were hoping for something new and different to what's been offered for the last 15 years or so. While I like the retro's it's hard to justify buying another retro when I have one of the last ones. If they brought back the horse heads then I'm buying it immediately. It's a great looking jersey.

All they'll care about is how well these sell, and I bet they sell very well.
