I removed the Facebook and Twitter apps on my phone a few days ago, and add a result I haven't looked at either since Thursday. It's absolutely amazing how much happier and less stressed out I am. I think Facebook is going to be gone for good for me, and I'll only use twitter for breaking news and hockey updates.

Highly recommend!

No matter how many times life just wants to #### you. A couple days (in this case the beginning of a 3 week honeymoon) with the love of my life can just be what you need to keep things heading north.

It's crazy how much social media influences us and our train of thought.

I definitely agree with you and had similar experiences. Funny story.. I went abroad to study and one day got drunk and fell off my friends couch smashing my phone. I proceeded to go 2.5 months without a phone, it was probably the best time of my life, not a care in the world and didn't know what was happening other than what was in front of me. I encourage everyone to do this, albeit a bit hard to do.

Step 1 - Delete Twitter
Step 2 - Install an app called IceBreaker (it's phenomenal)
step 3 - Thank me later

I know that this is pretty stupid compared to most of things in this thread but making the Final in my Fantasy Baseball League makes me really happy! It is a super competitive league with all of my friends and I kinda went all in on this year by trading some draft picks for next season so making the Final is a bit of a relief and pretty exciting. Just need to win this last week.

Yeah I'm starting to get over Facebook. I check it out when I'm bored but outside of the odd nice post from a friend of family member it's just full of negative crap.

I ditched Facebook years ago and I really have never looked back.

It can be good, but it can also be incredibly toxic.

What makes everyones facebook so toxic? All I see in my feed are photo's, jokes, articles and the occasional annoying ad.

Shortly after adopting this guy, we found out he had cancer and best case was 1.5 years. He wasn’t supposed to make it to September, but he is still doing great and we are going to Big Bear for 4 days to celebrate. This guy cracks me up at least once a day

For me, it's the sharing of BS like anti-vax, anti-GMO stuff, the anti-Alberta/anti-oil & gas people who are becoming really vocal on my feed. Things like that. I've also seen more people lose friendships over political and social debates and disagreements. I've even caught myself thinking differently about some lifelong friends because of their views & how they espouse them on Facebook. Toxic is a good way to describe it, and to me it's just not worth it.

Mothers. Mothers with too much free time.

You think the toxic eco-terrorists are bad? I would hate to have to raise kids in the modern 'Facebook generation.'

Every single thing parents do is public and scrutinized by people who have too much free time on their hands and everything becomes a wind-tunnel of too many differing opinions and incriminations.

Its like parents arent allowed to raise their kids anymore.

I dont have young children but some of the things I've seen said between family members regarding parenting on Facebook is revolting.

I never started. The very first instant that I saw Myspace, I said, "This is really, really, really, really, REALLY dumb." And all of it still is. Unless you're boring and have Monahan's hair, I don't care what you had for breakfast. Shut up. (Not you literally, of course.)

Twitter can be good for things like weather warnings and damage pictures (I am a meteorologist) as well as other live events happening in real time, but I'd sacrifice that in a heartbeat for it to die a horrible death.
