Wow, did not catch that. I was hoping to have noticed him more during game play, but I was probably just looking in the wrong places!

I heard Steinberg talking with Reid Wilkins from the EDM radio today. Reid said he expects Yamamoto to get called up after producing well in the AHL and immediately be put with McDavid or Draisaitl.

Insanity.

You don't get 46 goals and 50 goals the year before his size without speed. Really going to miss him here on the Royals . Not going to miss Dube on a WHL level tho lol . Gave the Royals some fits.

I heard that interview too, then he couldn't name anyone else who is knocking on the door. Pathetic. He listed Rattie, Yamamoto, Kassian and Puljarvi as the RW depth. Yikes

Nice to watch the Oilers prospects get humiliated by the 29th best group of prospects in the NHL. Gotta be painful to be on the receiving end of back-to-back shellackings like that. The Oilers can take solace in the fact that they have a game lined up against an all star team from the local chapters of the Brownies and Girl Scouts. Victory awaits!

The best player on the ice was Dube, and it wasn't even close. Kid just does everything well. Zavgorodniy was almost as equally impressive. Has some great skills to work with. A player to watch the coming year? Phillips again stood out, but not just because he looked tiny again. He was flying and made the Oilers defense look like pylons. Those were the guys that stood out for the good.

Valimaki had a rough night. He really didn't impress in either end IMO. He didn't handle the puck very well and needs to work on doing things at speed. A year or two in the minors will do him wonders. Parsons had another Parsons game. Everyone gets all excited about the acrobatics in goal, but his manic nature works against him. He lost his crease and was out of position on numerous occasions, and if the Oilers had any guys with talent on the team, they would have taken advantage. The one thing that he does really well is eat up pucks. This is MacDonald's problem and that surfaced again tonight. It will be interesting to see these two battle all winter long to see who betters their craft the quickest. Both need to show improvement, but MacDonald needs a year of stability or he is likely looking for another team.

On to main camp now, where we will see if there is any room for any of the players from the games we just watched.

Yes, Parsons is too aggressive, but that is a very easy thing to coach.

The important thing is that he has the talent, the athleticism, and the compete level in spades. Teaching him to trust it and stay in position more should be no problem.

The kid can play.

He also said that he thinks Yamamoto will be a better NHL player than Puljujarvi. I thought that was interesting.

As they should be. Those poor buggers had no idea players like Dube are attainable outside of the first round of the NHL entry draft.

I definitely think that’ll be the case. Puljujarvi has some serious issues with his game. Has a lot of tools, but the toolbox isn’t really there. His hockey sense and puck skills leave a lot to be desired.

As he should. He looks NHL ready whereas everyone else seemingly had kinks to work out. When the Oiler’s homer Bob Stauffer raves about a Flames’ prospect and likens him to Braden Point, that says a lot right there.

Yeah I've not been impressed yet either. In the first game I thought he looked extremely deliberate to the point of being a touch slow.
