Here's hoping Dillon Dubé surprises and makes the team à la Matthew Lombardi!

I'm a fan of Healey's game. He throws some big hits without taking massive runs and just seperates the puck carrier from the puck.
I hope he can keep developing and carve out a 6/7 spot for the Flames in the future. It'd be nice to have someone like that on the backend to keep opposition forwards honest.

I agree. He was very physical without getting out of position.
There were lots of good performances today. Adam Ollas Mattson had a quiet but effective performance. He's not spectacular and I don't think he'll ever be an NHLer (although what do I know), but I think it was a smart move to bring him back to the Heat. He seems to have a calming influence.

At this point I don't think he would even be surprising, which is great for him. He did very well last camp, and Gaudreau mentioned he was surprised when Dube didn't make the opening roster last year.

If anyone finds a link to an archived video of the game please post it. Seems as though the earlier links have all been pulled.

Terrific athletic saves all night from Parsons. Feeling alot better about him already.
With the change in goalie equipment, I wonder if the reactive goalies like him will have an edge over the big bodied positional goalies. He is lightning fast even reacting to point blank shots.
Really liked Pollock on those two goals. Forget he was a 2nd rounder. Perhaps late bloomer. Will be interesting to see if he can provide a top 6 performance in Stockton this year.
Gawdin and Phillips had excellent games too. Stockton is going to have lots of playmakers.

Pollock seems to have the hands and IQ but lacks the wheels. This could be a make or break season for him to take a step and be an impact player in Stockton.

Nope. I don't know what WMG is but they blocked in on grounds of copyright.
I tried and was not happy.

Warner Music Group. It was likely automatically flagged because one of the songs in the video set off YouTube's copyright filter (probably Little Bones in the intro).

I haven’t read through this whole thread.... but how did Gawdin look? Does he have more to his game than scoring?

Nice to see hockey back. Even nicer to see clean boards with limited advertising! But I guess I'll be the Debbie Downer and say the game didn't leave me with the same warm and fuzzy other have.
The Flames prospects were very good at being opportunistic and taking advantage of some really weak goaltending. Both teams looked like a bunch of juniors and minor leaguers. I thought the Oilers made more skill plays with the puck and were ahead of the Flames in their ability to move the puck as a team. The Flames beat the Oilers in the north-south game, badly. It was very much reflective of the big clubs. Oilers had an advantage in the sizzle, but the Flames had the advantage in the cut of the meat that matters.
The only two players that really stood out to me, for the right reasons, were Kylington and Phillips. Kylington really surprised me with his well rounded game. He was solid in both ends of the ice and looked like he was above this level. Phillips impressed me with his thinking of the game. Made some really impressive plays that generated some quality scoring chances. Too bad he is so tiny. Still has a very long way to go.
I wasn't as impressed as some with the play of the prospects, especially Parsons. We already knew his strength was his athleticism and his ability to make the circus save. What I wanted to see was more composure in the crease and better positional play. I saw the same player that we saw last year, one who is still fighting his own aggressive instincts and over challenges. If he's going to make the NHL he needs to get better at being positionally sound, making the easy save, and controlling his rebounds so he doesn't need to make the big acrobatic save. He's still very much a work in progress.
The rest of the lineup was pretty much what you would expect in a battle of minor league teams. I saw some flashes of good play that was lost in a sea of inconsistency. Not many really impressed by being dominant in a game against minor leaguers and junior players. If you're going to fight for a job on the NHL roster you have to be dominant and noticeable in games like this. I didn't see that with the exception of Kylington. With the NHL roster pretty much set, it is going to be difficult for anyone to force their way into the mix without a standout performance. It was nice to see the Flames light up the Oilers though.
One last point, it's gotta be pretty tough being an Oilers fan and having to sit through that mess. The players you hoped to standout really didn't, or did so for all the wrong reasons. Bouchard got his goal, but he also looked like a pylon out there for many shifts. The kid needs to improve his skating something fierce. Bear, who they are already counting on making an impact, was one of the worst players on the ice. Yamamoto was invisible in a game where he should have been dominant. Just a flat out demoralizing game for the set that is always living off the hype.

According to Oilers fans they feel Bouchard skated really well and they feel his skating issues are overblown. I didn't watch the game so I can't comment.

These are the same fans that think Milan Lucic can still skate at the NHL level. 'Nuf said.

More precisely, ”He skates fine and as fast as he should. He conserves it. It's probably why he looked slow for London. He played so much.”
So, Bouchard is an 18-year-old kid that plays so much that he needs to pace himself.

He looked good but he is not the speediest.
He was physical, and had a nose for the net. if he can improve his speed i could see him becoming a 3rd line tweener.
He and Ruzika play very similar games, was impressed by both.

Put me in the camp that feels Dube could be on the Flames roster very soon.
I like just about everything he brings to the game, I know he was one of the last cuts last training camp and I feel if we weren't so log jammed in the forward group this year we could see him stealing a spot.
With how deep we are with the big club this year I think it makes more sense to let him play top 6 minutes on the farm and get a year of pro under his belt but I hope they don't saddle him down there for years to come.
I've actually bumped into him a few times in Cochrane and he seems like a nice kid with a great attitude so I'm cheering for him to make it.
Nothing about Bouchard's game yesterday jumped out to me as "elite" talent or "holding back".
He has a shot I'll give him that but his foot speed is definitely not there and he was pretty invisible out there for the most part. Mind you its only 1 game but you'd expect the guy to at least command a bit of attention.
I'm pretty confident in the Oilers blowing another early 1st rounder in a deep draft again this last year, I think there were better options available and for the life of me cant figure out why they drafted Bouchard.

Whenever I watched Bouchard, I always thought he was conserving something.
Was an odd choice in a draft year, but it led him the promise land.
