You want to feel really old, try this simple excercise. Take any we application, or webpage and add the word "The" to the front of it, before you know it you'll sound like an octogenarian

Ah damn, you're right. All this time I thought it came from a spoof account using her name. Looks like it was several accounts that were used (whack-a-mole style as one would get banned another would pop up). The original article mentioned her Instagram handle I misread it.

Good article on The Athletic where they really break this whole thing down.

After reading the article I'm more on Caryk's side. The lawyer representing the Karlsson's comes across as really petty and unprofessional.

Some snippets from the factum filed by Karlsson's lawyer.

“Talk-Sports published heinous comments about the Karlsson’s [sic] and the loss of their baby soon after the tragedy. One such vile comment that Caryk raised in her cross-examination was the defamatory allegation that Karlsson was ‘a pill popper’ and that the still-born baby did ‘not have a chance.’ Ironically, Caryk identified herself as a pill popper at the cross-examination as a reason she would not call Karlsson such a thing.”

Probably the last news update associated with this story...

So essentially we will never know what evidence the Karlsson's had to accuse Caryk of the harassment, but the judge has at least vindicated her in stating:
“Other than Mrs. Karlsson’s bald assertion and, maybe, a weak inference arising from the circumstance that Ms. Caryk knew exactly where to look for nasty posts, there is simply no evidence that Ms. Caryk did make any such postings.”

Unfortunate, as I believed the hockey community deserved this information and that Hoffman's value/career have unquestionably been negatively impacted as a result.

Karlsson should be the last person named in any such order, her lawyer argued.

The court ultimately agreed. There exists better information in the hands of other people — the man who operates the website on which Caryk believes the harassment occurred, internet service providers who have the subscriber information of people who made the posts she thinks were incorrectly attributed to her — and Caryk should look to them to find those she believes is responsible, the court ruled.

Regardless, Caryk has no right to ask for a declaration that she didn’t “post nasty things about another person,” the court ruled.

Oh, well, that seems fair. Karlsson accuses Caryk of some pretty disgusting levels of online harassment but when she fails to present any evidence to support her claim the judge tells Caryk that to clear her name she should go after the websites/ISPs etc herself and that she has no right to have the court clear her name.

I'm sure there may be a legal explanation for why this mess unfolded the way it did but this whole situation seems crazy from Caryk's position. No evidence, public reputation ruined, court refuses to clear her name.
