As a Raiders fan I'm sad to see Mack go, but 27 seems ancient in the NFL and if he wasn't interested in signing with the organization anyway I'm glad the Raiders got a half decent return for him.
Oof at the Bryant update though.

They wont find a khalil mack there
But a first, plus 20m in cap space to improve multiple positions can make the team better as a whole
I didnt say bears worse in the short term, definitely better this year, but to what level was my point
I think they are the 4th best team in thst division, could see them winning anywhere from 5 to 8 games most likely, long term again it depends on the cap and how much space they have and can utilize it
Its the same thing people are saying about the rams today, there are stories on espn and the ringer about their 2 year window starting now after signing donald. The bears are a year behind them with trubisky a year after goff, but there is a reason people question how much defensive playere can make on a cap team, and if you can have enough talent to build a team while paying at least 25% of the cap to two guys
So if the rams have a 2 year window, the bears is 3, i dont think the bears are close to the rams at this point
Which is all i was saying as to why it may not work out for them
Also you saying the bears should be in the wild card discussion
Vegas doesnt agree
Their over under in wins is 6.5, thats tied for 2nd worse in the nfc with the bucs, only arizona is lower

Wow, if thats what he wanted, i like the deal more now
90m guaranteed, 23.5m average is insane, cant pay a defensive player that and build a squad, thats qb money, top 5 qb money

Swap of picks looks better for the Bears now as Well, as they got a 2nd rounder back in the deal..
A lot of money paid but the Bears did extremely well in this trade

They wouldnt be better this year if you're expecting a top ten pick out of them... I expect the Bears to be in wildcard discussion regardless of what Vegas says.
The Lions are not good and IMO made a poor coaching hire. They have the most holes of any NFC North team.
The Packers go how Aaron Rodgers goes, as the team that surrounds his is quite poor. The Vikings are the class on the division again and are a tough beat, very likely a playoff team again.
I think Chicago hanging around the Green Bay, San Fran, Dallas, Carolina, Atlanta territory doesn't seem outrageous in my eyes is all.

You can be a better team and win a game or two less, its a tough league
Plus with a new coach it may be an adjustment year
All this is talk on paper, same with the betting lines, its why we play the games, maybe mitch takes a big jump? Maybe cousins struggles etc.

Wildcard discussion? How are they going to get a wildcard finishing last in their division? No way they finish ahead of the Vikings or Packers and it's not like the Lions are chopped liver. I expect the Raiders get a top 10 pick either this year or next year for sure out of the Bears. Maybe both years.

Maybe that Pick will turn into someone as good as Mack!

I would be happy with player 2/3 as good as Mack on a rookie salary scale. Bears can have Mack on his $135 million deal. Let me know when the Patriots start signing DE's to deals like that and maybe then you will convince me the Bears are on to something.

Raiders are concerned about being good when they hit Vegas...and this deal certainly gives them a better shot at that
picks and cap space

Mario Edwards Jr could be a good pickup for a team. He's got talent but has issues staying healthy.

With a week to the regular season Shaw still shows NFL Sunday Ticket as unavailable. I'm pretty sure it was announced that cable and satellite providers will be offering this and DAZN keeps NFL RedZone as an exclusive. I don't want to give any more money to DAZN as I hear they are still terrible.

The Paxton Lynch era in Denver has come to an end. Mercifully.

Except the Eagles just won the Super Bowl with Fletcher Cox who was The 2nd highest paid defensive player in the NFL at the time.
Mack is paid in between Joe Flacco and Alex Smith currently as per the salary per year... neither a top 5 QB and he is a far better and more effective player at his position than either of those players.
QB, Pass rush and offensive line are the 3 pillars of a successful team in this age of the NFL.
