Over the long-term? I dunno. If you get a good concept like the 2004, you probably could see 1 in every 7 Calgarians getting one, no? Also not restricted to just Calgary but you're probably right that's a bit aggressive.

Also was just reading about it, and looks like the team itself likely actually gets very little of the money anyway from a jersey sale (like, 1/30th of profit) so my point is not a good one I suppose. I take it back.

When the 2003 red home jersey was introduced I was told that each team gets the full licensing fees(30/30 or 31/31 as it is now) for the first two weeks of sale availability. For what it's worth, I was also told that it was the best selling jersey of the season by a long shot.

True, though not sure if the rules have changed as far as how the profits are split and the timing.

And for all the complaints about King and the owners etc etc, they are the same group that was involved with the 2004 jerseys.
Finally, as said before, I think the Flames wanted the fresh look or retro look the last years reserved for when they moved into the new building, which would’ve been long by now given the timelines the Flames had internally. That not going according to plan clearly, the lockout, flood, the jersey supplier changing and new rules around that, all have contributed to the disjointed uniform plan, which likely isn’t high up the priority list either.

When do you think the Flames will release their thirds?

No idea, but the anticipation is killing me. Personally, I just want a retro in Adidas cut. Plain and simple. Nothing too "out there" and certainly not Black primary color like Stockton's third.

One would have to think our jersey should be announced shortly if the oilers just announced theirs.

They are careful to categorize it as a Retro here. Means that they can still release a third jersey down the road.

I think third jerseys can be worn more often than Retros.

I long for the day that the Flames' original colours are just the colours, without the "retro" qualifier. I'm all for a redesign, but would salivate at a redesign with that colour palette.

The owners can have the thirds as their outlet for 90's black, wordmarks, alternate logos, flags, and other experiments. But please just let the home and away primaries be nice the next time they get an overhaul, which is so very overdue.

The Oilers never miss an opportunity to let you know that they won 5 cups in the 80’s

Yup, similar to the teams that wear the Stadium Series jersey after the Stadium game is done... limited use and special circumstance. Thirds are around 10 games max I think. Has to be a significant reason to have a retro.

Flames 40th is around the corner so that may be part of the whole situation. Third this year, limited use retro for the 40th. White 80s for the third, red 80s for the retro?
