I just finished watching the animated movie Suicide Squad Hell to Pay and I have to say it's pretty great. The DC animated connected universe of films has some really solid entries. The movie is a hard R and they definitely take full advantage of it as well. Not as good as Death of Superman but still really solid.

New rumor suggests that WB is meeting with Oscar Issac for a role in The Batman. A great Batman film would go a long way for DC right now.

If the Joker film turns out good, I'd love for DC to do a Luthor film next.

There was a time when Alec Baldwin may have played Batman but now he is set to play his father Thomas Wayne in the new Joker film.

I don't like that casting. Baldwin always comes across as arrogant to me. Thomas Wayne always seems to be portrayed as a gentle, intelligent man, which makes his death more impactful.

If they made Adam Baldwin Batman I would be all in, we'd finally have the jerk batman that carried a real gun that we all want.

I imagine the story will be told from the perspective of the The Joker so perhaps someone like The Joker would see him as a jerk.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Linus Roache were great as Thomas Wayne, so he's got a lot to live up to.

I don't think that the Joker really finds anyone to be jerks, or truly hates anyone, he wants to rip down their un-corruptable nature and take away what they value most.

Its all a game to him

It has just been announced that Alec Baldwin will be playing the part of Batman’s father Thomas Wayne in the upcoming Joker origin film.

However, it has now been revealed by reporter Jeff Sneider that this is the role that was initially offered to Viggo Mortensen, which the former Lord of the Rings star ultimately turned down.

Yeah cause working with DC really ruined Gal Gadots career. Not to mention Henry Cavill, Patty Jenkins, Christopher Nolan.

Totally reasonable comparison there, what a terrible mistake he's made... just like Henry Cavill or Gal Gadot, Viggo Mortensen desperately needed to headline a DC movie to truly launch his career as a marquis name in film. Now no one will ever know who he is.

Thomas Wayne has always been a minor character in every Batman movie. I’m guessing Viggo is holding out for a bigger role in the DCU or in general

Thomas Wayne is not only a minor character, but he's also perceived as old. There's likely only two scenarios where he's even in DC movies: 1. Some kind of flashback/origin story; and 2. Flashpoint or some other kind of alternate universe.

I don't think Mortensen is ready to hang them up quite yet and accept the role of aging anti-hero or dad. If he wants to keep his crediblity, as an action star, outside of a Liam Neesen type trajectory, playing Batman's dad is probably not the way to go.

I still don't think Wonder Woman was a good movie. It's the only comic book movie to date I actually fell asleep watching. And that includes Spider-Man 3 and Elektra.

This is the thing. Neither did I. It succeeded at getting me to fall asleep on a plane which is nearly impossible for me.

But its the best DCU film to date. People just tend to forget that this is not a high bar.

But whoa! If you say anything negative about it you're not an experienced movie watcher or comic-book connoisseur or even just someone who likes different movies you're just a misogynist.

As a side note Viggo Mortensen was still the best portrayal of Satan that I've ever seen.

The Prophecy is still a hugely underated movie

Films subjective, you didn't enjoy WW that's cool , for me it's a borderline masterpiece and up there with The Dark Knights or Infinity War for best comic book movies ever. Even if you didn't enjoy it, there is no denying the movie was a huge success, whether critically or commercially.

Why though? I'm not knocking your opinion, but I'm just wondering what criteria you base that on. To me WW lacked any decent acting outside Pine and Galdot, the story was pretty generic comic book fare, and the villain was absolutely forgettable. It's not a bad movie, but I defintely wouldn't rate it top tier of comic book movies. I'd put it along side stuff like Captain America 1, Avengers 2, and Doctor Strange

What the actual ####.

Quote:
Alec Baldwin has dropped out of the Joker movie, EW has confirmed.
The surprise move comes just a couple days after Warner Bros. confirmed his casting as Thomas Wayne, the father of Batman/Bruce Wayne.
Quote:
The film reportedly is re-imagining the Wayne patriarch as a “cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump” instead of how he’s traditionally portrayed as a warm-hearted billionaire philanthropist intent on bettering Gotham City before he’s cruelly gunned down by a mugger in front of his young son.

Not sure what the deal is here. Did he only just realize it was because of his Trump SNL role that they wanted him? And if so, what the #### DC? Why in God’s name would you ruin a character like that?

I thought they did a great job bringing the character of Wonder Woman to the screen. Felt like I was reading a Wonder Woman comic. Loved the origin, and how Gadot portrayed Diana. Also really liked the tone, didn't have lots of miss placed humor or overly humerus, but had some solid well placed humor. The movie felt similar to the first Superman film to me. And the ending with Steve Trevor was emotional, really hope the sequel doesn't undo that but I'll wait to see it before making judgement.
