FWIW, and I won't declare my source, so don' t ask.

The give a #### meter in both Hamilton and Ferland was really low. I was surprised to hear Ferland, but apparently he really exuded the ideology he didn't care at the end of the day if they won or lost. It was a perfect time to sell high on him. Hamilton, is being beaten like a dead horse here, so I don't bother rehashing. But same idea.

Hopefully not as limp and ineffectual as last year...

This rinse and repeat regurgitated crap has to stop with the flames and stop right now.

Without even knowing what actually happens in that locker room Matthew Tkachuk stating that guy playing as individuals on this team won’t be tolerated anymore speaks volumes .

Especially from a young player.

I cannot imagine Keith ever gave his sons bad advice as what I’ve seen from him is so incredible and cannot remember another player play here and make the impact he has.

To do everything he said he was going to do and then have the ability to draw in his teammates when it’s time to compete says allot about his infectiously great game, attitude and swagger. Gio is a great captain and has done a great job but when he’s gone Matthew needs needs needs to be given the C.

He said this team needs to dial it in and make things happen in order to succeed.

We all know this. What I don’t ever want to see again is another group of players do an all out mutiny on the season and just mail it in for a majority of the season.

I’ve lost track on how many times I’ve seen certain selfish players pull this crap throughout the league.

Taylor Hall who was discarded didn’t lay around feeling sorry for himself when he ended up a devil ....he kicked the living crap out of that opportunity and proved the oilers were wrong and I loved watching it.

A majority of the knights could have gone to Vegas and did nothing along with their discarded coach and they just showed the world they weren’t a bunch of castoffs bound to do nothing.

I guess what I’m getting at is these players have to decide regardless of what player decides to pull them down they have the ability to pull that guy up and make a change for the better.

The Boudreau speech always comes across my mind when he chewed out the caps. He was right ......nobody wants to be around someone who feels sorry for themselves.

If you want it go get it. I’ve been more than a patient fan and defended guys but I won’t defend another decision to make the players happy by discarding another coach if things don’t go well.

Brouwer was an easy target but he wasn’t going to win it all Taylor Hall style......Hamilton wasn’t the kind of guy either so I’m not upset that either of those guys is gone.

They never needed to say a word as you could see it in their play. No heart. No effort . Just me me me .

Gulutzan didn’t help that situation at all . Cameroon didn’t help that situation either . Neither ever admitted a mistake.

The first thing out of bill peters mouth was the acknowledgment he made a mistake with Eddy Lack and what he said.

There’s that accountability. I think we should all be looking forward to this year and this fresh start ......I know I am.

Go Flames Go.

I have said it a few times now, but I am not convinced Tkachuk would be a good choice to captain the Flames. My concern would be primarily that the on-ice representation would effect some of those parts of his game that make him so effective. He may be a great captain, but I don't think he obviously will. In the end it won't matter whether Tkachuk wears a letter or not. He will be a fantastic player for a very long time.

No. Not exactly. When Hall was traded to the Devils he looked positively pedestrian in his first season. It took the full year and a summer for him to stop "feeling sorry for himself," and to finally "kick the living crap out of that opportunity."

I don't hold any doubt that Brouwer's best days are far behind him, but it is simply too soon to be making career pronouncements for Dougie Hamilton. Do you know who else appeared year-in-and-out as a player with "no heart; no effort," and a "me, me, me" attitude?

TAYLOR HALL. Between 2014–17 most were generally convinced that he would never manage to get out of his own way and lead a team to success. There is still time for Hamilton.

The brother thing was a huge reason I suspected as much but also just felt something was off with him in general.
I posted this in the trade thread at the time, but it wasn't necessarily because Hamilton was a 'problem' but rather because he couldn't commit to being part of a team.

You have 23 guys who basically live together most of the year. If one guy is off doing his own thing it creates problems.

Particularly when he's the captain's defence partner.

It probably would've mattered a lot less if he was a 12/13th forward or 6/7 d.

Tkachuk and Backlund should share alternate captain responsibilities this year.

Hockey players appreciate a conservative, fixed point as their captain - it's tough to find a more prototypical NHL captain than Monahan.

Tkachuk is my guy and certainly captain potential but I still think Monahan has been groomed to be captain since day 1...although I would prefer our next captain to have some more grit a la Tkachuk tho
