I won't argue with Calgary having lots of trucks, but does having the car in front of you be a truck vs a CRV really matter at all? Doesn't change the speed of traffic, # vehicles, etc.

If someone asked me if magically changing all the trucks to sedans would impact my life, I'd probably say no.

It is quite a big difference. When following a sedan or most compact CUVs you can actually see through their windows at the road/traffic ahead. When you are following behind a pickup truck all you can see is tailgate so it is impossible to see the road/traffic ahead. In one case you can anticipate in advance and in the other case you have to quickly react to what happens in front of you. This is part of the reason why so many people want trucks or full size SUVs in Calgary. The taller vehicles give the driver an opportunity to see through and past other taller vehicles while drivers of smaller vehicles are essentially blinded. More and more people are moving into bigger vehicles so that they can see and it frustrates drivers like me who prefer a sedan.

my little guy rmmh. the latest thing he is doing is substituting 'calgary flames' for items coloured red.
a couple of examples...
here is you 'calgary flames' napkin daddy (it's a plain red napkin)
a red truck drives by - look daddy a calgary flames truck!
i want to wear my calgary flames shirt daddy!! ...ok... well, it actually IS a flames shirt... but it's red too.

my wife is not nearly as stoked about this as i am! ha! ha!

My kids want to get a leash for our cat to take it outside for walks. I have grave concerns, but decided it's their money and they can do this if they want.
They sleep probably 80-90%% of the time but it just makes me feel better knowing they're alright since I'm away from home for so long. I just installed it a while ago and they're basically liquid in the summer, so I wonder how they'll be in the cooler temperatures.

My cat Sigma likes to be on a leash outside, but I've never been successful at "taking him for a walk". He just likes to chill out and eat grass, and he's always attended. If you start them when they're young, they get used to it. Sigma also LOVES his carrier and gets right in it whenever I take it out, and he loves car rides (in his carrier and buckled up, of course). Just gotta get on it when they're small. So, I basically have two mobile cats that I can take on vacation with me

It is so easy to see through traffic because you aren't always staring at a tailgate in front of you. Our full size sedan rental was one of the biggest cars on the road as most folks prefer compacts here.
Sometimes I wonder if I live in a different city then other Calgarians.

I don't know how an adult makes it in the world if they can't even go through a work day without seeing what their cats are up to.

This post obviously wasn't as humorous as intended and didn't go over well.

Sorry to ASP#26525, this is obviously a poor place to be making judgments like that and I'm sorry for being an ass.

Man you would love Europe. It’s a little more chaotic but everyone is driving small cars so you have a good idea what’s coming ahead and if there’s issues up ahead you don’t have it where everyone is forced to brake at the last minute because the full-size pickup in front of you obstructs your view of anything ahead and you are relying on their care and attention of what’s ahead. I wish people in North America weren’t obsessed with driving tank sized SUV’s and full size pickup trucks. Even our compact sized cars are huge now for crying out loud as a Civic today is bigger than a 90’s Accord.

Trucks are getting obnoxiously sized too, the new Colorado is damn near the size of a half ton from 10 years ago.

I say this from my high horse f150.

I used to drive an old F-150 when I was in University and I agree. Half-Ton trucks have just become obscenely big.

To be fair though half ton trucks are also way more capable than they used to be, to come along with the size. My '18 F-150 can tow more than my '08 F-250 could.
