Default Over Under Regular Season Point Totals Flames 93.5

Not sure if posted elsewhere.

Source: https://puckprose.com/2018/08/22/nhl...n-projections/

"Let’s take a look at the full odds, courtesy of Odds Shark."

@OddsShark
Opening NHL season point totals (@LVSuperBook):

TBL 107.5
TOR/WPG 106.5
NSH 105.5
PIT 103.5
BOS 102.5
WSH/PHI 98.5
SJ/CBJ 97.5
VGK/ANA 96.5
MIN/STL 95.5
DAL/FLA 94.5
CGY/LAK 93.5
EDM/NJD 91.5
COL 90.5
CHI/CAR 84.5
NYI 83.5
ARI/MTL 80.5
BUF 79.5
VAN 77.5
DET/NYR 75.5
OTT 71.5

"Meanwhile, the Flames definitely got better this summer. But I question how much better they got since they traded defenseman Dougie Hamilton. If you’re feeling bold, flip a coin and go with the over on the Kings or Flames. Both could and one almost indefinitely will get at least 94 points, but it’s hard to see both doing it."

Bubble team it would seem is the consensus. 94 points seems a pretty good bet for the Flames given upgrades and fact we have exceeded that point total 2 of the last 4 years with younger core and much less depth. Goaltending is the wildcard.

I hope for over because 93 or 94 points is probably outside of the playoffs again...

I pick over, because otherwise what's the point of being a fan?

Over. We are going to hit 104 points this year. Book it!

That seems like a reasonable betting line. And yeah I’ll take the over.

Over. Ultimately depends on goaltending though.

As a fan, I hope and expect over.

As a rational betting man, I'll take the over because I think I'll win some cash.

I'll agree but will be close. Lucic is going to double his production - 2 goals in the first 45.

With that defense and unless Talbot turns in a Vezina season, you have to think Drano is needed up north.

Hockey is so difficult to predict unlike the Premiership or NFL per say. There's no great guaranteed odds from that list.

-I see NYR low at 75 with still having the King.
-Pittsburgh at 103 could drop a bit - lots of hockey and tend to want to squeeze into the playoffs even with Malkin / Crosby.
-VGK will drop although we all said that last year. Maybe they press forward
-LAK are due for a large drop even with the Kovy signing. Slow and old.
-I'll bet over for CGY - all comes down to goaltending

Flames with their new multifaceted offense takes people by surprise. Scoring from the middle two lines finally exceeds the totals of the top line. Rittich at backup takes another step forward this year, shows starter potential in his 32 games as backup. 10th best powerplay by season end. CP explodes with question on why we didn't play Brodie on the right side last year. They not only break 94, but take a step over the 100 point mark. I'll say 102.

I do know that we have a good chance of being better than Minnesota and St. Louis.

It would be awesome if a team received 0.5 standing points for every goal a goalie scores

I have to pick over. Under 94 points with this roster means that either there were significant injuries, the goaltending mimicked 2015/16, or the new coach can’t get out of his own way like the last coach. Injuries happen but I think they should be 96 point team at least if they play to the expectations of the GM.
