Good start for Genie as she breaks in the opening game.
Edit: Genie on the right side of a bagel in set 1. Keep it going Genie.

All right, Genie qualifies for the main draw with a convincing 6-0 6-3 win.

For those interested, Felix is warming up and TSN is live streaming his final qualifying match.

Felix just reeled off four straight double faults after going up 40-0 and still managed to win the game. I guess you can call that a good fight.

I saw that - A couple of aces in the mix in that serving game as well. Aside from that serving blip, he's playing well thus far.

Pretty impressive break back after dropping serve. Kid can sure turn defense into offence.

Takes the opening set 6-3 - It's easy to see why people are so excited about Felix, he has a complete game, good serve, solid ground strokes on both wings, excellent court coverage as he moves very well, and he just turned 18. I think we're just scratching the surface of his potential.

It seems like he's slowly starting to realize what he can do at the ATP level. Melzer is not holding back and Felix is just teeing off on him at will. Unfortunately I'm thinking he won't be in the field come October for the Calgary Challenger....he'll be cracking main events by then at this rate.

Felix up two breaks leading 3-love in the second set. Melzer looks like he doesn't have a clue what to do to stop the onslaught.

Wow, nice drop shot by Melzer and Felix gets there in plenty of time to hit a winner.

Attaboy Felix, into the main draw with a 6-3 6-0 win over Melzer.

Degree of difficulty on picking up that pretty nice drop shot was a 10/10. Most players on tour are completely unable to get there let alone take that ball back down the line for a winner.

Demolition in that second set, only lost four points total.

So in order for PoLLansky to squeak in yet again, I'm assuming someone else needs to withdraw due to injury before Monday as Sonegro takes the Donaldson spot?

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that Felix bowed out quite early in Vancouver at the Odlum Brown Open as maybe a little extra rest was just what was needed.

F.A.A is the first player born in the 2000s to make a grand slam main draw.
I see that Shapo is playing a qualifier in the first round would be fun if they put them against each other in the first round
