This list isn't all that bad. Byfuginuflieniun is too high for sure but other than that most players could move around a bunch after a hot or cold season.
If Gaudreau and Monahan both stay healthy and have an upgrade on the wing I see them both moving up about 5 to10 spots on that list

The THN list has some flaws, but it would be unquestionably better than any list that didn't have Hedman in the top 25. That would just be an objectively terrible list. The guy is a complete beast.
164 voters for the Norris this year. Hedman placed first or second on the ballet on 154 of them.

Also, ever since McDavid has entered the league the media has completely disrespected Crosby IMO. Crosby is still better, and if I could have either player on my team for one season it would definitely be Crosby.
This! McLotteryball is top 3 for sure. But better than Crosby? F*** that. He's fast and skilled, I'll give him that. But when he's not flying down the wing putting harmless shots to the side of the net, he's a lazy, selfish and defensive liability. And he still has a hell of a lot to learn when it comes to being a true leader and captain.
McDingleberry has the speed, but Crosby is an all-around better player in pretty much every other category.
These kinds of lists are always both weird, stupid and unneccesary. Even in august. I guess it's supposed to provide some talking points for fans during the darkest, deepest days of the off-season, but it's still ridiculous.
Crosby is great, but if anyone would like to bet that he outscores McDavid this year, I'll put up a fair bit of money on that one. Dude's 31, and has had his best years. McDavid hasn't yet. Hedman's been one of the top handful of D-men in the league for a few years now, and he doesn't get enough credit. I can't think of anyone I'd put over him, Doughty, and Karlsson in the top 3 in the league. I wouldn't put Monahan on that list myself, but he keeps producing, and I'm happy to continue to be wrong about him. Gio is the oversight to me, every defense partner he has gets talked about as one of the best D-men in the NHL until he's not with them anymore.
I guess I'm one of the few who have virtually no problem with this list. There are always a couple of omissions or ranking order questions, but I look at that list and i sorta say to myself "yup, looks about right".
One thing that was obvious to me was that only 4 players in the top 30 did not make the playoffs last year: McDavid, Karlsson, Tavares, and Seguin. Hard to rank Gaudreau ahead of any of those players IMO. 8 out of the next 20 on the list didn't make the playoffs last year, so it's clear that the higher ranks are reserved for players that can get you to the playoffs except for some clearly elite players.
If you want to see Flames players higher on this list, then they need to make the playoffs, and preferably make some noise in the playoffs.

This has absolutely nothing to do with why I and many others feel Crosby is the better player. Crosby is a much more complete player than McDavid. IMO it's not even debatable. McDavid gets lots of points and is easily the 2nd best player in the world, but he is not and will never reach Crosby's level.

Is Karlsson really the 4th best player in the league? The guy can't play defense worth a lick of salt. Otherwise it's okay I guess as voters certainly like the shiny new toys. Good to see Monahan make it over Draisaitl as just maybe some in the hockey world are paying attention to one being a real center and the other a winger on McDavid's line.

I'm not sure that the playoffs should play heavy in criteria when judging the top players. It's not Monahan and Gaudreau's fault they had poor coaching and below average goaltending and a lot of good players on bad teams have that same argument.

Seeing him at 21 makes me quite happy simply for the fact I grew up watching him play with the Hitman.
Wheter or not you agree with him being that high on that list, I will argue he is a solid goalie in this league. It's a shame he plays for the Sharks, but for how far he's come since playing on the Hitman, to being undrafted, to being in the cup final in 2015-16; I'm really happy for the success he's had in his career.
