Gaudreau is lower on the list then expected. I'm surprised to see Monahan on the list.

Byfuglien is way too high - probably shouldn't even be in the top 50. Let alone ahead of Doughty, Barkov, Benn, Forsberg, etc.
Also think the goalie ranking is really weird - Bobrovsky makes some sense. But Martin Jones as the second best goalie in the league !@#!@ Hellebuyck is also way too high. Gibson has been great and he's not even in the top 50.
Edit: Realize now they mean Seth Jones and not Martin Jones most likely...either way probably too high.

Keep in mind that Price's numbers last year were 16-26, 3.11 GAA, .900 Sv%. I do still think Price is the better goalie, but it's not shocking that he might get bumped down the list a little despite historical brilliance.

I don't know if Couturier should be there... before his career year last season, he was averaging 40 points a season.
Don't get me wrong he's a good player but not in my top 50. Pacioretty or Mark Stone would take his spot.

I apparently under-rate Blake Wheeler quite a bit.

But at the time, how could you exclude a near Selke calibre player (second in voting, barely lost to Kopitar) who put up almost a point-per-game?
These lists have to have a recency bias as last year's results are the best at determining next. Every once in awhile you have a fluke player or player in the right circumstances, of course.

And then of course, if you were looking at more than just last season, W. Karlsson is a 20 point player, not a 40 goal scorer.

Never mind Gaudreau, but ahead of Doughty...? Yeah, not a chance.
As an aside it's nice to see Monahan crack the list, even if it is a bit dumb.
Actually now that I read the list I think it's REALLY dumb. Epecially some of the players they ranked ahead of Monahan...

Geez let’s just hand the jets the cup now with that list. Ha.
It’s as delusional as the oilers and how they view themselves.

I don’t see how Hellebuyck even makes this list. He looked fairly shaky at times in the playoff... looking at the players ranked below him makes this list pretty ridiculous. To me, Doughty is the most underrated player on this list... an argument could be made that he is the best Dman in the league... I don’t see how any sane person could rank Hellebuyck above him.
Also, ever since McDavid has entered the league the media has completely disrespected Crosby IMO. Crosby is still better, and if I could have either player on my team for one season it would definitely be Crosby.

There are a looot of players I would take before Kucherov. Malkin is criminally low.

The 31 GMs voted Hellebuyck as the definitive second best goalie last year behind Rinne. So at least there's a bit of an argument.
But then again, Rinne is absent from the list...

5 Jets in the top 30... yeah, that seems reasonable. Easily the best team in the league, and possibly the best team since the '76 Habs.

I'd agree with 3 of them. Schiefele, Wheeler and Laine for sure.

Any list that has McDavid over Crosby is a disaster to begin with.

Yup, he was at least in the running for the Art Ross up until the point the team fell apart in the last quarter.
