^ who said Vancouver isn’t a match? They would make a lot of sense as a destination, but not sure what they would offer in return
Also, with respect to the source... Friedman’s beard.

My concern if Karlsson comes in, is that with so many new prominent faces (Lindholm, Neal, Karlsson, Hanifin, Ryan) and a new coach, it can be a chemistry issue to start the season.

I feel like if VAN is involved they are trying to facilitate a move for another team.
Maybe eat the Bobby Ryan salary and get a pick and prospect from Dallas or Tampa in order to facilitate the trade?
I mean that is what Dim Jim would do if he was a competent GM who actually realized that team isn't in "win now" mode...

Have to assume Boeser is the name the Senators is targeting a return for Karlsson.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Fine, I'll bite. Its August and nothing else is happening.
Hughes, Juolevi & 2019 1st
The bigger question is why would Karlsson want to go there? Sure, its not Ottawa, but there have to be better non-Ottawa destinations for him.

Now that Karlsson has been linked to a Canadian team it is nearly certain he will be a Flame
Hamilton linked to Oilers- Flames get him
Hamonic linked to the Leafs- Flames get him
Hanifin linked to the Canucks- Flames get him
My only concern is Karlsson’s last name doesn’t start with “Ha” so it might not work

Boesser for Karlsson just doesn't make sense for Vancouver. Which means it's a good chance Benning does it...
But really, giving up your only somewhat-proven young top tier talent (no offense to Horvat who is a great secondary player) for a UFA 28 year old doesn't make sense. They have no window to speak of. It made more sense when the Canuck fans thought they would be using their Sedin cap-space on Tavares and Carlson.
But they flopped in UFA and without Boesser they would have a great second line center in Horvat, an aging top pairing defender in Elder, and a solid Tanev - until he gets hurt for half a season. Every other player is playing over their head as a replacement player or is a prospect with lofty expectations to meet.
I'd actually love Karlsson to wind up in Vancouver assuming the Canucks pay a decent amount of futures for him. There would be no concern of them winning for the next 20 years.

Im not sure a defence core centered around Karlsson, Juolevi and Quinn Hughes is actually going to be very good at preventing goals against. Go ahead VAN.

Even Benning isn't dumb enough to trade Boeser for Karlsson.
I could see Hughes potentially being moved in the package.
Hughes, Van 1st round pick next year and Hutton would probably get it done for the Sens.
They could end up with the Hughes brothers, which could be a PR nightmare for the Canucks too, but it's a "bird in the hand" thing.
I'm sure the Canucks are offering Juolevi, Gaudette and Hutton which Dorian would be an idiot to accept. Sens need at least one blue chip piece in return.

If I had to guess I would say that Colorado is a destination for Karlsson. Lots of cap space, draft picks and young prospects at their disposal.

Versteeg was linked to Edmonton, Flames got him. This is a case of cherry picking at its finest. Lol

Why do we need him? The assets to get him would be atrocious, we already have a very strong defense and with a new coach, I can't see us being that serious. If anything goaltending is a much bigger question mark.

It’s important to remember Ottawa is not making that first round pick in 2019 Colorado is.
Maybe they trade him to get their pick back.

My main concern is what we'd have to give up to get Karlsson. Chemistry would probably be my least worry, to be honest.
I'm not willing to mortgage the future just for one year of Karlsson.

Karlsson signed only get you Joulevi then Sens are beyond screwed.
Needs to be one of Hughes, Pettersson or Boeser
Something like Hughes/Pettersson, Demko and a 2019 1st for a signed Karlsson.

The concern I have with Vancouver trading with Ottawa is Vancouver has tons of cheap bodies and cap space and Ottawa is a very desperate team. Trading their best player with Duchene and Stone being UFAs next summer and a total of 9 players who are UFAs next summer. A team that doesn’t have their first and has money issues could dictate what they value coming back. I could see a trade that isn’t all about prospects
I could see scenarios that include Markstrom for Anderson being added. Guys like Hutton, Stecher, Granlund, Virtanen getting over valued and included in a deal. Vancouver has tons of cap room to take Ryan back. They might be able to get a deal done without adding 2 top prospects and a first
Treliving needs to get in on Ottawa’s mess. Even if its Stone or duchene
