Has Brouwer's camp publicly commented on the buyout?

I refrained at times at piling on but the truth is that this buyout is all on him. If he just meets or comes close to 20/20 which is what he was averaging for a while up to the signing he is still a Flame today but he was just awful. Six goals in 76 games is paethetic when you consider he was afforded first unit powerplay opportunities. Every team has an AHL player or two that they can plug in and match or exceed production as he’s a replacement level player.

Pretty much. There were expectations of Troy Brouwer when he was brought in and he didnt bring secondary or even tertiary scoring, he brought little to no realizable mental or physical toughness as management indicated this was a particularly weak point of the team.

So what did he bring? He did not meet the minimum expectations associated with his contract.

IMO he did not even meet the minimum expectations of an NHL player. Just a complete waste.

For me, the nail in the Troy Brouwer coffin was his shrugging off of the Gaudreau wrist injury a couple of years ago with the "yeah we do it too" explanation.

Yep. I still contend the rest of the team should have spent the next practice repeatedly slashing Brouwer on the wrist and saying, “what’s the problem? everyone does it!”

I figure that he will because since hes still being paid by the Flames he could be had for dirt, dirt cheap.

That being said, the Troy Brouwer of the last few seasons has not been an NHL player, most teams (not named Edmonton) likely have players within their internal pipeline who can produce as much if not more than Brouwer.

So it would have to be 'Playoff Experience' depth and I dont know who is going to tie up a roster spot for that.

I predict he winds up in Chicago on a PTO. They seem to love bringing back former Hawks from the 2010 cup run.

I'm sure Gulutzan has been working on a way to get him on the team.

Probably will get a pto with the oilers. Not like they have a ton of depth or talent that isnt about the same as he is.

I would love nothing more in the world than to see Gulutzan bring the mighty Brouwerplay to Edmonton.

First line time right away, essentially neutering McDerpy.

From r/calgaryflames, the OP has been a reliable source in announcing the Bill Peter signing with term, announced the Lindholm deal was done and was close to what his AAV was. I believe AC has posted about him too on here.

Majority of Flames players did not like Hamilton, Brouwer or the coaching staff

This probably isn't news but I had a chat with someone really close to the organization who heard everything in the player exit interviews and most players didn't like Brouwer or the coaching staff for awarding Brouwer PP time and sitting more skilled younger players like Bennett and Jankowski. There seemed to be a divide in the room about that and one big talking point was when Brouwer excused the slashes Gaudreau got with "everyone does it".

Was actually relieved to hear I wasn't the only one who had a problem with what Brouwer said. It barely got any media attention.

Gaudreau is a well respected dude in the locker room and majority weren't happy with the way the assistant captain didn't stick up for him.

*not mentioned in player exit interviews but rumblings heard all year

Hamilton wasn't hated by all accounts but he had a hard time fitting in and many mentioned the inclusion of his brother on the team and the 1 way contract as a reason for the dislike for both the players and the management/coaches.

I really don't know what the Flames were thinking picking up his brother and signing him to a 2 year one way contract when better 4th liners were already available. This makes the room uncomfortable.

I’m gonna actually believe that rumor, considering that all 3 groups — Brouwer, Hamilton and the previous coaching staff are all gone.

Maybe we should take it with a grain of salt. But, the coaching staff and Hamilton weren’t really shocking to me. What shocked me was Brouwer’s attitude towards the end of the season. He did not stick up for Gaudreau or anyone else in that regard, which essentially had him lose his job.

Good on Treliving for making the moves necessary to making this team competitive without making humongous downgrades, but rather moves that are going to help us in the long run.

I never bought the "Dougie needs Freddie" rumours but that signing was weird regardless of if that was true or not.

He still can’t get paid less than the minimum.

The Flames money is “in his pocket”. He’ll get paid whatever he is worth regardless of the Flames payments.
