And what's up with Nelly Furtado now? Did she cave and make "sexier" (sluttier) music/image to get back in the spotlight? I expected a bit more from her.

I thought this isn't what she sings... but i guess her wallet isn;t complaining... I hate that type of music anyway.

I'm going to attempt to defend this song.
The SNL performance was horrid, that...once you've watched it...goes without saying, but the studio recording of the album is actually a deadly catchy song...not GOOD...but damn catchy. The version I got off bittorrent has the neptunes in it....and NO yoldeling.
I completely agree Gwen's music has gone to **** since she started her little solo career, but she (or whoever write that crap) knows how to make a chart toping tune. Hell, it's arleady #7 on the Billboard chart.
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/chart...gles&f=Pop+100
I don't like it, but I can respect anyone who makes a song that catches on.
....Except Nickelback.

Agreed...I finally got a chance to view the video...holy hell that is terrible..what the F is wrong with that girl...Nickelback is like Mozart compared to this turd that Steffani squeezed out. Like the thread starter, i am speechless...this is the same girl that was in No Doubt??

That song was painful.
She isn't hot or even pretty, but I've always found her attractive... except in that video I just watched. Thanks.

AHEM! I believe that's He-man (from the masters of the Universe. I have the TVD of the first season. yowza!)
On topic:
I will give Gwen credit for at least trying to do something original and not just making the same old crap. Mind you what she's doing now is still crap, but at least it's new crap.
Also, what's with her always having (almost) all asian backup dancers?

How can anyone make fun of Nickleback when there is that new(ish) Killers album out there? Good god. And I wonder why I almost only listen to the Who. Wow.

...at the very least it'd be more original and sound a little less repetative.

Gwen got a lucky hit by mashing cheerleader chants and hip-hop in Hollaback Girl. Fergie copied the formula in London Bridge.
Now they are doomed to repeat each other, mixing crazy stuff with hip-hop:
cheerleader
yodelling
What's next?
tibetan throat music
barbershop
monks chanting
opera
diggerydoo

The New York Times
Much of “The Sweet Escape” sounds forced and secondhand; it’s one thing to emulate Madonna, another to be playing catchup with Fergie. [4 Dec 2006]

Also interesting in theory is the truly bizarre lead single, "Wind It Up," where the Neptunes force fanfares and samples from The Sound of Music's "The Lonely Goatherd" into one of their typical minimalist tracks, over which Gwen spouts off clumsy material-minded lyrics touting her fashion line and her shape. Nothing in this track really works, but it's hard not to listen to it in wonder, since its unwieldy rhythms and rhymes capture everything that's currently wrong about Stefani.
From the stilted production to the fashion fetish, all the way down to her decision to rap on far too much of the album, all the dance-pop here seems like a pose, creating the impression that she's a glamour girl slumming on a weekend night — something that her self-proclaimed Michelle Pfieffer in Scarface "coke whore" makeover showcased on the album's cover doesn't do much to dissuade.

Prince Adam of Eternia = He-Man
And that pic is technically of Adam.
Nerdiness +1.
Also, it irks me to no end when people bash others for listening to certain music.
It's like belittling someone for eating liver and liking it...not really their fault.

On that note, anyone who actually thought No Doubt was good, is a dum-dum. That's right. I'm bringing out the big guns. "I'm-a-walkin-on-da-spidawebs!" Tragic Kingdom was like nails on a chalkboard in my opinion.
But still way better than Nickelback!
And the link to this song unfortunately (?) doesn't work anymore. Somehow, this thread has made me want to hear it now... I mean, yodeling? Seriously?
