We have curbside recycling every couple weeks here in STJ, but I put my deposit recyclables (not bottles) in a separate bag and give them to the guy across the street who collects them to make ends meet. Any deposit bottles I have go to my other neighbour's son's school, or they'll get taken away within a few hours if you leave them in a box on your step. Handy for me since I live in a shoebox. (There was an old lady who lived in a shoe......)
