If you don't have that kind of space to wait for one large truckload run then you have to do smaller bottle runs, so wasting min 1 hour every other week to claim $15 or one bags worth. I also drink too much.

on a side note about deposit fees, my brother pointed out to me that coke on Amazon is 3.99 / 12 pack, which is nothing special it goes on sale at the grocery store all the time for less than that. But he pointed out that they don't charge the deposit so you are saving $1.20. I tested it out and its true, $4.19 was my total (still paying GST). Have to order it as an add-on item but I order enough from Amazon that this could change my life!
I am assuming you can also take those cans back to the depot and get your $1.20? If so, that is awesome.

Like others have said, storage is a big part of it.

I currently have one garbage can in garage where we chuck the empties, and then one additional can outside that we put the first full bag into. Once both cans are full, I have to take them in (~$30 for the 2 bags). This makes requesting the "SkiptheDepot" to pickup the best option. Sure I could turn my side of house into a mini bottle depot mess, but otherwise, 2 bags isn't worth the trip down to the depot and having to shampoo my cargo mat after it invariably gets bottle juice all over it.

Are we finally running out of things to complain about? Bottle depots really?

How have you found skipthedepot? What cut do they take?

They take approx 30%

https://app.skipthedepot.com/rates

But for me, easily worth it. Again, on a typical $30 depot trip, thats $10 I pay them to save me driving down (time, gas $) and back (ditto), waiting in line, and getting the inside of my car dirty/smelly.

I would literally pay $10 for any part of the above, so really a no brainer.

So far it has been seamless. They have set days of week they do each neighbourhood. So when I have my 2 bags worth. I click on the app for a pickup, and they come do pickup on Wednesday's in my neighbourhood.

They come and grab from side of the house, put all yours into a giant barcoded bag, and then usually a day later you get the count results and $ in your account.

Depots are great. Right now my oldest daughter is in Australia with her Girl Guide group and a lot of the money was raised with bottle drives. I spent many weekends slowly driving around neighborhoods collecting bottles with them but it was worth it because she is having the experience of a lifetime right now.

Just be careful when ordering in winter! I order energy drinks on Amazon since I can't find cases of the stuff I like (Xyience) anywhere else and have had several cans explode when I didn't get home fast enough after they were delivered.

I had a case come in this week and one of the case was bulged, ready to explode. I also find them to be a little more flat than stuff bought locally. The bottling code on the bottom of the cans says "BNC" so who knows where it comes from. Calgary is CAD and Red Deer has something RDR.

What is funny is I bought this case to get my cart over $25 for another item that wouldn't ship unless my total was over $25. The Coke shipped on its own via UPS. There's no way the $4 covered shipping; never mind the ironic part that I had to add the Coke to get the other item to ship.

I always liked it when I'd pick up a six pack of cherry coke zero in Montana and then sneak the empties into the return (usually spaced out over visits)

Gimme that sweet illegal 60 cents!

I stack 'em up and if no kids have come to the door by time the stack is full I throw them in my car and give them to one of the guys hanging around the Depot.

Ah yes, the worst of both worlds. You have to collect and sort them, store them and waste time driving to the depo and then give them all away? why not save yourself all the effort and just chuck em in the blue bin?

Toenails. We should burn the nail beds as early as possible after birth.

I prefer to leave my toenails uncut. My son is uncut too. So he looks like me.

I cut my own toe nails, I dont remember it being painful and it's all I've ever known. Some women even get theirs cut, buffed and painted.

Because it feels good to save them for a kid, and failing that making a low income / homeless fellow's day.

One of the few perqs of inner city living is that I can leave my empties anywhere outside and they'll be gone within half an hour.

I like Fresca. Recycling the cans is a PITA though...
